I was not sure if Clan was going to do the Golden Boot. I think it takes 38 weeks. I will have to check the schedule. I might have to start this retroactively.

Memory is fuzzy on this, but I thought Clan was thinking about doing away with the round-robin at the end, with the semis being home-away and then the final a one off. If so, 35 weeks, and kickoff in GW4? This is a fun competition, but I'd wait to hear what the Master Bootster has to say.

Clan hasn't been around much, I think I've seen one post from him on the Chelsea board since the end of pre-season.

If that is the case we can go one game week and see if he surfaces. I didn't make the final round so I can't give any feedback on its success. I thought it was a great competition and did not want to see it disappear.

I am also ready to retroactive Gameweeks 1 and 2 and keep it a 38 week competition. We'll see if Clan replies.

I also liked the Fantasy Olympics which 1-800 did. That looks to have disappeared as well.

I do intend to get this up an running.

I've been given an (unwanted) 'promotion' at work, which is both temporary and requiring massive amounts of time away from home.

This is due to end the weekend of Labour day...can't come soon enough.

Until such time, my travelling has prevented and negated much of my leisure time for computer use, such as setting up and posting results and updating this (and other) pastimes.

Bear with me, it'll be up and running soon.

Your draft positions will determine your group, the fixtures are already pre-set and the results can be found with simple mouse clicks for previous weeks' scores.

As mentioned by Blech, we will be returning to the original style, although it will be from week 1, with off weeks for the league cup final, FA Cup semi-final and final itself.

I will be away again all of next week, so if some kind person has the time to post the draft orders for the 4 leagus, that would help me out greatly..:)

Great Stuff. The Golden Boot is back. It was my obsession last year. The first round that takes 14 games weeks. It is like the Battle of the Bulge. Sold Stuff.

OK, I will keep carry the Olympic Torch. I was just afraid to the gameweek too many.

The Golden Boot Emergency Congress has looked at the numbers

    Round 1 - 14 weeks
    Round 2 - 10 weeks
    Round 3 - 6 weeks
    Quarter Finals 1 week
    Total - 31 weeks

Then there is semifinals with 4 teams that used to take 6 weeks.

This will now have to end in 3 weeks. So there may have to be a review of the Quarter Finals on...

But for now, fasten your seat belts, with or without Clan the competition starts this weekend.

The rules Goals and Assists count for points. Most points win a match. 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie.

Top 6 teams in each division advance.

Tie goes to point differential, then goals, then assists.

Not to confuse things, Tarv, but Clan had indicated he was going to run this retroactively, with designated weeks having no games. Clan strikes me as a pretty reasonable guy and all, but I'd be careful about stealing another man's Cup....

Not sure what to suggest if Clan's still unreachable, but we could well end up with 2 competing Cups!

My temporary assignment (due to end Labour day) has been extended through the end of the year.

In reality, due to downsizing in the higher echelons of the company, many people now have extra work, extra hours and so called 'temporary' duties to perform.

All being compensated for of course.

In these economic times, it's hardly in my best interests to 'not be a team' player.

In the fantasy football world, this translates into less free time, and with a heavy heart I must pass on running this time consuming competition this season.

    Ah, curse that real world.
Thanks to you again for conceiving and creating the cup, I'm sure we all understand the demands being placed on you.
Thanks to Tarv too who's taken up the cause.

Currently the new Board of the Golden Boot is putting retroactive matches under consideration in order to have more matches at the end of the competition.

I am not sure if you are supposed to hold on to records for 4 years or 8 years but in the Golden Boot headquarters they are currently going back to week one. It seems that the competition had already started but the paperwork was stuck in some back closet.

We do not know who was responsible but suspect that they could be associated with whatever squad in whichever group is at the bottom of the table and at Gameweek 6 is figuring they could get a fresh start in the competition. Unfortunately for them it is not the case and for the rest of us will see the finals carried out just have they always have. Maybe this year it will not be Duck Butter doing the clobbering.

As it is Gameweek 6 here are the matches

    Week 6
    Group A
    1 1800-UK.com v 5 Bettermirror MCFD
2 FC Springfield v 6 FC Touchline Ban
    3 Windsor Wanderers v 7 Dynamo Teso

    Group C
1 Rat Face Villains FC v 5 Duck Butter Bandits
    2 LSG Cambridge v 6 ChrisSuttonsSlippers

nice job to get this up and running. and a huge task to go back 5 weeks retroactively given that scoring must be done by hand.

if anyone could volunteer to help Tarv with the updating - perhaps do one gameweek or do one group - i'm sure that would be appreciated. unlike the eliminators (which only require downloading and sorting total scores), i've always been impressed by the time required to make this run. props to Tarv for taking it on given Clan's unavailability this year, and to anyone who can assist him in getting us up to date.

and, not to threadjack, but a reminder that the BE-Cup kicks off in gw7, so you've got the rest of this week and next week to get squads in order.
