So that means that the only way San Juan Jabloteh doesn't make the final round is if they manage to lose to River Plate. But either way, with Bayamon and the Islanders (assuming no upset on Sunday) getting to the Final Round, Puerto Rico's guaranteed at least one team in the Champions League this year. Congrats!
Yeah I think River will get the upset. They had a crazy pre-season in Argentina and will probably learn from the mistakes on friday.
And then, a quick recap for anyone wanting to know how the tournament stands as of right now: Group A - The Puerto Rico Islanders beat Racing des Gonaives 2-0 on Friday (as the away team, I think? The article from the Islanders' website said they were the away team, as well as Concacaf's stats for the tournament, but the schedule they put in their articles has it in reverse), and so since I'm pretty surethe away goals rule is in effect: PR Islanders win, tie, or lose by 1 - PR Islanders advance Racing wins by 3 or more - Racing advances Racing wins 2-0 - extra time + penalties Racing wins 3-1, 4-2, 5-3 etc. - Racing advances on away goals Group B - Bayamon (PUR) has already qualified for the Final Round by knocking out Avenues United 8-2 on aggregate. Group C - Walking Boys from Suriname is already out after only beating System 3 from St. Vincent 2-0. As for the latter, since their goal different is a -2 to Joe Public's +5, for today's closing match between the two: Joe Public wins, ties, or loses by less than 4 - Joe Public advances System 3 wins by 4 or more * - System 3 advances Group D - Alpha United is already out after only managing to tie River Plate Ponce 1-1. And Since River has 1 point to San Juan Jabloteh's 3... SJ Jabloteh wins or ties - Jabloteh advances River wins - River advances * Or if the game gets abandoned because flying pigs that magically formed out of the ash from Iceland decided to land and invade the field, causing Joe Public to get kicked out of the tournament for being unprepared for the possibility. Oh yes, and in which case they would at least console themselves by having the biggest barbecue in Caribbean history.
My final four: Public, Jabloteh, Islanders and Bayamon. T&T vs P. Rico. Public, Jab and Islanders will qualify.
Why didn't the Jamaican teams participat in the tournament this year? Surely they have the quality to win and they would have hosted at least one or two groups so is the financial reasons really valid?
River one man down and without their HC. Clear penalty not called for River. What if it were 11 vs 11? San Juan 1-River 0
Or that isnt not worth wasting their money, when they know Warner is really the person who says who will win in the Caribbean.
...which is why the last time Jamaican teams played in the CFU tournament, Harbour View won the whole thing.
You guys seriously cant be defending River and their disgusting display of sportsmanship. Not only were all red cards deserved, including the one given to Jab. which u conveniently forgot to mention. But thats not the worst, they started a huge brawl after the game. Disgusting! Seems like they learned well in Argentina..... Dont try to hide behind Jack Warner in this one, wont be surprised if both teams are fined.
Match report : "while a gunshot was fired by a security guard in an effort to stop the melee." http://www.socawarriors.net/league/tt-pro-league/7152-police-quell-jabloteh-river-plate-brawl.html
Sure.... Papa Jack has his hand in everything, like we told River fans if you want to win in Trini you need to do it by alot because if its a close game Jacky will find a way to take it away from you.
