It's hard to imagine having that many defenders on the pitch and still come close to screwing the pooch in the end.

Congrats to Monterrey. I guess the fortress isn't what it's cracked up to be, but it is still a tough place to play. A very well earned result. But there is no way around it: that was a major choke job from RSL.

Esto. No gano Monterrey, perdio Real Salt Lake.

Ahora si me pase, 'eda? ^^^ :D

Los logros se miden de acuerdo a las posibilidades, y este equipo aunque mermado por las lesiones y tarjetas tenia para jugar de manera menos mezquina, y se conformo con un triste gol y exprimir el reloj.

I'm just curious, how many championships have y'all won? Is it more than Vucetich? Coz every time he shows up in a final, he leaves with hardware.

All they needed was one, they got, they held it, they have a trophy for their troubles.

BTW, I am digging the FSC post game. It is the moral victory show.

This ^ In the end Monterrey gets their regional championship and a ticket to the FIFA Clubs World Cup.. Years from now when people look at the Rayados coffers no one will care how the silverware was obtained. Monterrey could have dominated the match, played silky soccer, and lost and what good would that have done eh...

Monterrey couldn't beat Puebla at home last saturday. They are in a terrible slump and like I said at the worst time. Mucho hicieron.

I'm more happy that they didn't lose than they won. If you know what I mean.

Monterrey played the game they had to play

You always hear from the south americans that mexican teams don't know how to play a final.. Well that's how you play a final

Las finales se ganan como sea

Monterrey is obviously not in peak form

They have some injuries and players who's form have really dropped

How many of you guys wrote Monterrey off after the 1st leg?

Now it's all "ah bueno they should have played better"

They won in the road against a tough team that showed they belonged in the final

    Props for that

How was the first half? I only caught the last 30 minutes of the game and all I saw was 10 Salt Lake players taking shots at a blue and white bus parked in front of Orozco. :)

A lot f Salvie RSL fans too.

The opposite of what you saw, Monterrey dominated the second half. They killed all of the so called advantages RSL had. You could see their players were winded from chasing the ball.

first was better than the second, but that's not saying much

Monterrey looked like crap for the first 15-20 minutes playing the long ball too much. once they started keeping the ball on the ground they looked better and scored the goal that gave them a spot in the CWC

overall a boring game, but i'm just glad a Mexican team put a MMLS team in its place

Vucetich made the game harder than it should have been

They were controlling the game pretty easily and then he decides to drop back with 30 minutes left in the game.

It worked but if Real had scored Vucetich would have never heard the end of it.

They need a centerback and a striker with speed for the CWC.

    37 game unbeaten streak

    Snapped

Will Blazer rig the draw to favor the MLS again next year? It would be too obvious. Pero de todos modos hacen lo que quieren.

Monterrey has until December to get it together, plenty of time. Every December the Mexican team representing CONCACAF shows up to the CWC on the decline (Pachuca, America, Atlante), hopefully this time it'll be different.

Did we see the same game? What I remember was that the game had become open and it was back and forth attacks from both sides for some time. Obviously if your opponent needs just to tie to win the trophy you can't have an open game like that so they decided to bunker. It was only logical.

Well maybe the stupid MFL teams should try to win their group and not get beaten in Puerto Rico or fail to beat Toronto FC twice.
