First things first. The NVMC is the big winner!

    http://islanders.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=535097&cmpid=rss-hochman

Then we have some solid signings

    http://islanders.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=535113&cmpid=rss-lebourdais

    and resignings

    http://islanders.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=534976&cmpid=rss-News

Now the bad news...or delayed good news.

    http://sagharboronline.com/sagharborexpress/page-1/last-minute-appeal-stymies-shinnecocks-8592

The Shinnecocks need full status to go ahead with the NVMC casino plan. If these Connecticut tribes get their way I hope Charlie moves the Sound Tigers out of the state.

    This would bum me out...

All this guy has done is play better than his natural talent should allow him to for 4 years here. What a shame to possibly lose him.

If Garth does have a check book to write in then he can rob some teams blind with the amount of cap room we have.

I know we can't make a run for the cup but an acquisition or two could help us fight for the 8th spot and a take a little pressure off of Taveres. As stands now we got a little better but the rest got a lot better in the East.

    We're still paying Yashin.

9 more points puts us in. I think that's way achievable with the Defensive upgrades that have been made.

Respect to Garth as I was on the fence about the chance of the Oilers sending Souray to the Isles but they flat out said no way to bringing him in.

Isles have nice depth on defense, especially the young guys. De Haan should have his chance now and I'd also expect Hillen to turn it up as well. That pick of Weisnewski (mispell) looks even better now

This makes things rather interesting in numerous ways. If Kyle goes on the long term IR which seems most likey and obvious then his salary comes off the cap, which in turn puts us close to the basement cap level, so we might just see a veteran or two signed.

Doug Weight is also hurt... again.

At this point, might as well bring back Alexi. We're already paying him.

We should... he's still got it, been doing rather well for himself in the KHL. Then again, why collect one check when you can grab two for doing only one job.

    Nice game tonight.

Rick let in 4 but I have to say 2 of the goals were just bad luck. Morrow tipped in the game tieing goal on a quick deflection that most goalies wouldn't of saved. Dallas third goal was the defense breaking down, so all in all not a bad night for Rick.

Defense was a little out of place most of the night but they skated hard and checked hard.... Wiesnewski laid two major hits in the game and worked the puck forward pretty well all night, good showing by him. After watching the defense I can't help but think that Marc-Andre Bergeron would be a great pick up as he's still looking for a team. Also nice to see Martinek back.

Offense, well Tavares is surely gone for two or three weeks. His hit wasn't too nasty and the resulting blow wasn't so bad either, could of been much worse. Still a dirty hit though. The rest of the offense skated quick and hard and did a good job of crashing the net. Moulson's goal was all skill and helped to ease the thoughts of last year being a fluke. Neilsen played pretty well and so did Parenteau as well, both should have solid seasons. Can't say I saw the newly acquired Grabner play, he might be in Bridgeport but when and if he makes the team, he should contribute.

Best part of tonight, Isles fought back from 3-1 to tie the game and didn't put their heads down for one minute. A little surprised at the quality by the Isles, might not be such a tough year. Also, another nice piece of news coming from tonight... Isles will play in the Mauselieum until 2015. Wang is still redoing the Lighthouse project and has also not put the proverbial kiabash on revamping their current digs. And to Matt, you should check out NHL.com, they have the gamecast for free for two weeks.. I've heard the local Isles bar in Dubai doesn't show every home game;)

Enjoy that long ride down the L.I.E. Ranger fans !

Huge ppg's in the 3rd and solid play from the 1st line and the W even came without Taveres. Lovely.

Free James Wisniewski! A two game suspension for the greatest moment of the young hockey season is just dumb. Gary Bettman strikes again. Keep on destroying what was once a great league played by real men.

    His non appology ruled

    Love it. Love this team!

Bullshi- suspension. Should of had a few bucks taken out of his wallet and maybe, maybe, one game but not two games. What steams me about this, is Hjalmarsson got two games for this hit on the same day as James gesture. This is all because Avery cryed about it and because Gary was in the building.

This is not on the same level as James. Terrible justice by Colin Campbell.

I don't want to jinx things so I won't mention his name but you know who just played his third injury free game between the pipes. That's a little happy news from this game, I just hope he takes tomorrow off and plays on Monday in Toronto.
