There will not be a TV or computer within a mile radius of me when this match will be played.

Hopefully that's a bad thing and Japan plays well otherwise it might be a blessing.

Let's hope that Okada learned his lesson, but I highly doubt it.

I was watching the first half of England vs Mexico. Today's S. Korea looked better than today's England. Hopefully Lampard and Cole don't play again.

Back when Naka actually moved around the pitch... instead of standing in place for 90 minutes

I want Japan to show some guts and play attacking in this game. It's useless to go defensive against England now. The back 5 is fixed, now we need the attackers to prove. At least get along with each other and show me some smooth passes. I know the forwards are weak, don't let me lose the faith in the midfielders.
Matsui please start, I want to see what you can offer in the left wing
Okubo tried in Korea match, but I still think he IS a forward. If Okada wants to use him, play 442 with Okazaki up front. His workrate can help Okazaki to have some place, or share some press with him. Lately I think Okazaki tried too much as a lone striker. Sometimes he shot too early, or dribbled desperately, he need to be more composed.

I think Okazaki needs to play off of Morimoto.

I mean if Okada want to play Okubo then he must be used as forward.
Morimoto and Okazaki sound not bad, but still I don't see they can be actually "a pair". Hell in my history watching Japan I don't see this kind of couple as well. They are usually like 2 men who run for last pass, not like a pair who can help each other, you know what i mean :D

Well it's hard to say given that we don't have much film of Morimoto playing with the NT (thanks Okada

But against Scotland and Togo it looked to me like he held the ball up very well and brought others into the attack. I know that's not how he plays with Catania, but he did it well then. It was almost Marquinhos-esque...
If he can play like that, I think he and Okazaki can make a good partnership.

Arguably today's Japan possess more talent than that 2004 side, but i understand the complaints about Okada.

By today's Japan you mean the actual NT or the pool of players available that Okada chose to mostly ignore?

Re: (05.30.10) Friendly: Japan vs. England [R]

Uchida and Tulio i'm particularly happy with, Matsui is more a fit to play an african side more than a team like england. If Kengo starts LM and Honda RM and Morimoto & Okazaki together, it will be a great game. The japan are england's last game before the world cup with some places fighting for their squad places. It will be an intense game.

What would be great would be to play a high press like holland for 60 minutes flat out. Then do 3 subs with Tamada, Okubo and Inamoto on for Okazaki, Morimoto and Endo and switch to loaded defense. If Okubo and Tamada can do anything well, its hassle a tiring defense.

Shunsuke Nakamura is my most favorite for a long time. Hell I screamed like teenager girl when he blasted in the goal against Brazil in 2005.

Now he is a lot slower. I still see he's useful against Cameroon, but against England, Ivory Coast or Denmark, I think Kengo is better.

This is great news. Its like the football gods are looking down on japan right now and manipulating the team in the most unusual of ways by eliminating all the wrong choices Okada can make and healing the better choices. How's Okubo? Didn't he get injured against South Korea or wasn't it serious enough?

Re: (05.30.10) Friendly: Japan vs. England [R]

With Shunsuke, I am rather counting on him declining to play than Okada not fielding him. That would show some character and at the same time he could use the time to recover.

Tulio and Shunsuke are the only 2 players reportedly not participating in 'real' team training as of yesterday, so Okubo probably is fit.

The more important issue imo is that we have 2 players on the pitch who are apparently not functioning together, and with Shunsuke out we can find out which formation works better. I think we didn't have this situation before throughout a whole match, so that is what I really like to see, for once: Honda without Shunsuke.
