Lighten up Francis I think the guy was just messing around with some templates it wasn't an affront to your masculinity for Christ sake.
No. It was an insult to my eyes, which was worse. The least he could have done was find a RED template with a white chest stripe. How hard could that have been?
something like this? It's disheartening to see what we would be wearing even now if the league didn't sell out our sponsorship from under us. Did the same thing with the websites. We got punished, somewhat, for doing it better. Also, you will never see a yellow Best Buy tag on a Fire shirt.
Uh, you do know that your AWAY kits have been white ? You've also had special yellow and navy kits in the past. That kit up there is white, and uses Navy (the secondary color of your logo) with red piping (hey look TRADITION, just like your away kits now) and then yellow seems (a color used in the past by your team). I haven't changed anything about the color scheme. All of those colors have been displayed/are displayed on the Fire kits whether past or present. Just because I used the secondary color more heavily doesn't mean I altered the scheme. Besides, it's a damn mock up because I got annoyed sifting through some pictures of past MLS seasons with their bargin bin kits. Don't like it, fine. Present something better.
I'm from Chicago but work/consult at the Corporate Best Buy HQ in Minneapolis. It is NOT fact that the rebranding will ever go through. It is just a test at their Mall of America store to get feedback. Personally, I prefer the new logo, colors, and font but it may never come to be. Some of my thoughts on Chicago's kits: 1. We have not only just been red. My favorite Fire kits were the original ones that had a thin blue band outlining its larger band. 2. I really liked the first year's navy blue and white kits better than the red 3. I think the "Men in Red" slogan is stupid. What the hell does THAT mean? 4. I saw some mockups somewhere with a Fire kit in powder blue and white shorts. That looked really sharp. Like the Chicago flag, I think it had four red stars on it. 5. I would prefer the colors to change to powder blue.Argentina's national team looks sharp, but there are already too many teams with stripes. Other MLS kits thoughts: 1. New Sounders kit would be betetr with a navy blue. I prefer the green/green combo just because its different. 2. The MLS has some really ugly uniforms. Many of the training jerseys are better. Theyall look too much alike. I don't mind them all being designed by adidas, just make them different! 3. I really like Houston's orange, but keep it orange and white, no powder blue. And i'm not much of a fan of teh asymmetrical wave. 4. Dallas' clown stripes have to go. 5. Real, seattle, columbus and colorado have nice color combos. good for them on taking a chance. 6. Too many teams with Red (various shades): chicago, chivas, dallas, ne, ny, real, toronto 7.Fire uniforms are BORING.
That wasn't a mockup. They actually wore that. I can't seem to find a clearer picture but here's one from when they played AC Milan a while back. Personally, and I have no love for the Fire, it is the best jersey in the history of the league. That's my problem with Adidas. The jerseys for most teams just seemed dashed off without much thought as to their design or with any kind of vision. Their subsidiary Reebok does all the jerseys for the NHL and does a far better job making the jerseys unique to each team. Adidas just gives MLS its castoffs and half-baked ideas and we're seemingly supposed to be satisfied.
Dallas' kits are probably the most distinct in the league, I like em. I can't wait till teams are wearing Nike again
I can certainly stand seeing Adidas do all of the jerseys right now, considering all the good they are doing for the league. But it would definitely be a blessing for each MLS teams' kits to be more distinct.
Neither can I. I so miss the days when jerseys were not available until half way through the season, and you couldn't buy them in anything but adult sizes. And jackets? Who needs jackets, warmups, or hoodies, or even away jerseys?!? I long for the days when my Adult Large jersey was actually a Small or at best a shrunk Medium. If only we could bring back the days when you had 4 Nike clothing articles to choose from, the selection was so much easier back then.
I too miss it. And I too miss faulty logic that the world today is exactly like the world of nearly a decade ago and therefore any similar action or circumstance now will have the exact same outcome as then. Oh, how I miss it. I also miss sarcasm; it was really at its best in the 90's.
I don't even think it's an example of a template. When the Fire had Puma as a sponsor, we wore the same style shirts as VfB Stuttgart every season, not least of all because we share the same jersey motif (solid with horizontoal center stripe). This is true, but yellow's still not a team color. MLS regs say shirt sponsor logos have to be team colors. But we have worn Sting and Morelia related shirts in the past that were yellow. True also but knowing a Best Buy VP, they didn't spend all the rebranding cash to not rebrand. It's more likely they use it than not, and it would look much better on the Fire shirts than whatever they use currently. First year was actually white and black. Really, adidas/the Fire can do whatever the heck they want with the away or third shirts and experiment, but the home has been uniquely consistent for 10-11 seasons now. Don't mess with it. Yankees uniforms are pretty boring too, but you don't hear their fans or merchandise sellers complaining much.
I must be behind the times, I didn't know 2004 was in the 90s? I'd rather have the same template as everyone else with options of actually buying replica merchandise then having the same templates as everyone else and not being able to get anything. Nike didn't care about MLS before Adidas took over, and there is nothing to tell me that this would change now. Let me put it to you this way, if it were up to me I'd choose Le Coq Sportif before I chose Nike.
I am fat, but that's beside the point. I'm sure Nike fits fine for all the popular European and South American clubs, I won't argue that, but that's because Nike cares about selling those products. The 2003/2004 MetroStars jerseys were all at least a size to small. I don't know, maybe they were sewn together in Thailand with the intention of selling them in a European market and therefore were labeled with European sizes, but as far as Americans go everyone purchased their kits online (because that really was the only way to get anything Nike) based on their 'American' or as you would call it 'Fat' size, and none of the jerseys fit properly. For a league that's supposed to be 'Major' this manufacturer sure didn't treat it that way. I still have my 'Large'. If you're 'Small' maybe it'll fit you.
I'm fat too. I bought a Nike Quakes jersey back in 2003. It was a size 4XL, which I expected to drown in, because I usually wear a 2XL. But it fit perfect, and my friend who isn't fat did the same and it fits him well too. He originally got an XL, but had to exchange it for a larger size, because XL was not large enough...he wound up with 4XL, and it fit him...the skinny guy...very well. Now I'm fat, but not completely massive or anything. In my past experience, 4XL was a size reserved for those people who are completely massive. You know, the contestants on the biggest loser...but not after they've taken it off, I'm talking the first show here. But apparently not when it comes to Nike jerseys.
I'm an ex football player and have these things called shoulders, a chest, and arms. Nike has no clue what those are when it comes to soccer jerseys. In fact, they believe that soccer players have zero muscle at all apparently.
I wish they made More 3XL or some 4XL cause 2XL is too small, the short sleeves dont go to my elbows lolol
Apparently neither does a sense of humor. Nevertheless, I just bought a Nike USMNT jersey and it fit just fine. Maybe they have upgraded their technique?
