Wow! It was raining cats and dogs, watching on Direct Kick, I thought they only got 5k or so. Looks like tons of no shows!!! Now, if they will only over inflate the LA numbers to 60k or so... incredible year!!!
What a week for attendance so far. Chicago vs Chv 17,537 New York vs TFC 21,305 KC vs DC 10,385 RSL vs Col 18,675 LA vs SJ 27,000 Sea vs Dal 33.108 * Sea Ave of just under 31k set MLS record for Season Average 21,335 WOW............................ United missed the playoffs, but at least my school beat Michigan. We ARE PENN STATE.
this jsut ********ing annoys me, it's a clear lie.the bulss scored more goals tonite than people in the stands.
Looking at the throng tonight, I'm pretty sure that 15,000 of the tickets were "distrubuted" into the Hudson.
I was there. Regardless.... it pretty much comes down to how ticket counts work. If they aren't double-dipping on ticket exchange tickets, then it's just a matter of whether these no-shows get spread over the course of a season or lumped into 1 game. Also, the weather was f'ing terrible. I know because 2 hours of our tailgate were spent sitting in a car avoiding pouring rain. The no-show rate was probably higher than any game this year, even with it being the final game at Giants Stadium. It's a very plausible number for tickets distributed.
Huge number of people were under the overhang all around the stadium and probably just as many people stayed at home in this pouring rain.
Especially in a season where the traditional league leaders (the Galaxy) have had such a poor showing.
That's fantastic. Nice to see an MLS team clawing in front of the rest of the soccer world. In other news, I just remembered that in Chicago our last game was NOT one of those games you could cash in an unused ticket. So had it not been such shit weather it probably would have been a legitimate sell out. That said, does anyone have an accurate seat map of the entire stadium?
Great job in the last week. Hopefully, my hometown Crew and Chivas can keep it up. Does anyone know what we need for 16,000? I'd hope we could get 35k from both games.
From the previous thread: This week so far: If all of these numbers are correct, the final two games need 22,872 to break a 16K average for the year. Someone else please double check the numbers.
I think you're right. I've been keeping track all year based on team averages rather than league average for all games. Unless today's teams fall well below their season averages, 16,000 is a lock. If they hit their averages, then we're looking at 16,029 for the league average.
Alot of those 27,000 in LA were plastic seats last night on the side the cameras don't view normally.
Yeah, from that display to the alleged 21,000 in NY to the double dipping of counting seats distributed earlier in the season and then counting again those tickets when used as an exchange for end of season games, counting double headers when 20% of the crowd show up for the MLS game, this 32 week odyssey of a thread is a sham. Quite pathetic worrying about attendances when attendance is whatever MLS mandates it is. There really is no way of knowing exactly how many people go to games unless you are TFC or Seattle.
But all of those seats were sold/distributed, otherwise they wouldn't have allowed people to go onto the grass. Did you know that the section on that side costs $125 each? As such, those seats are usually scoped up by corporations, and then distributed, using unknown criteria. Also I believe that a season ticket in that section gets you both Chivas and Galaxy. I am sure not many people actually attend both. Basically that section is always empty. It was only half full for the AC Milan game, even though the rest of the stadium was so packed that many people had to watch from the isles.
