Re: 2009 MLS Attendance Analysis: Week 29 Should I just get this out of the way now so SportsFan1 or some other retard doesn't feel the need to say....'without Seattle this would be a disaster' or something similar? Good lord I hate those idiots. As always, thanks for the work Andy.
This week will be tough. The Good: LA @Columbus. 19k+, maybe 20 if it sells out. The OK: TFC chicago. Should be 16k+. Don't know about the Bears. SJ DC. Big game, but it is SJ. Hopefully 15k+. SJ @Col. Hopefully 14k+ NY chiv. Hopefully 14k. Seattle @NE. Ditto The Bad Colorado @KC. 10k max RSL @FCD. Ugh. Though FCD have been entertaining lately.
Game time weather will be low 40's with a 50/50 chance of rain on a weeknight. Be happy if they announce a 5 digit number.
Re: 2009 MLS Attendance Analysis: Week 29 You know, this year is doing pretty darn good compared to the pre-Beckham years. Sorry, just felt like throwing a curve ball out there (or had to bend it like Beckham to use a different metaphor).
Re: 2009 MLS Attendance Analysis: Week 29 Except for the Galaxy, who were doing doing better in the pre-Beckham years than this year.
Now that we're winning again, I bet the FO will try to raise prices again and see another season of ~20k average
It looks like 350 people showed up in Colorado tonight. I guess they have gotten lost in the Rockies fever.
FWIW, there's a LOT of empty seats at Coors Field tonight as well. Maybe 10k there, will probably be announced around 17k (in a 50K stadium). Not a pleasant night in Denver for sitting for 2+ hours outside watching a sport. And I've said this elsewhere on the site, and I offer it not as an excuse but as an amusing simple summary of what being a Rapids fan is now: For the entire half-hour before the game started tonight, Altitude (our TV station for the Rapids in town) was cycling through the same 3 commercials, one of which was an ad produced by the Rapids FO for, "the Rapids next home game! On September 5th you can get free hats if you're one of the first 5000 fans!"
Can't say I'm surprised. The weather looked miserable. This should be just another piece of evidence this league should NEVER go to a fall-spring schedule.
Re: 2009 MLS Attendance Analysis: Week 29 But at much lower ticket prices. Which were already too high.
