Could be. On the other hand, what if their year of unending suck had started the year they opened the new stadium? Maybe the new stadium will lure back people who otherwise would have written the team off after this year's debacles.
If I'm not mistaken, the Red Bulls have already avoided being the worst team of all time with their last two wins.
I think we still have a chance to be the all time worst in terms of PPG. edit: Nope, I just checked. At worst, this will be the 3rd worst season ever.
There are two sides to every coin. Remember who the Galaxy beat in the MLS Cup in front of 60,000 home fans? That was the very last time I can remember the Revs ever being even semi relevant in these parts. It has been all down hill since then entering into a status that might be considered micro niche. I tend to try and look at things with the glass half full approach. If the Red Bulls had had an average year, squeaked into playoffs and lost, their fans would not have been all that invigorated and yet front office management may have stayed with the current regime. With the disastrous 2009 season almost behind them, it is pretty clear that Red Bull management is going to sweep everything clean which if done correctly, might gain some interest back along with the new stadium.
Rest of the week will be strong, with one exception: Seattle hosts Chivas = 27k+ LA hosts TFC = around 20k Houston hosts RSL = 17k+ Chicago hosts Crew = 18k+ KC at home = 10k If I had to guess, I'd say around 115k total/7 = 16k average. Maybe Houston sags a little after a bitter pill to swallow last week.
Indeed. And it did more than threaten. Still, good numbers for Chicago. As we come down the stretch, I'd expect the numbers to keep going up. The Fire are in the hunt (as they seemingly always are).
Probably because of how empty it looked on TV, which I grant you is not fair. Truth be told Seattle announced 32.7 but I was there and I think 2-3k in seats were empty, there was a Huskies game at the same time and I expect that leached some fans. Not sure why people continue to be snarky about ticket sales count being measured over turnstile count.
