Marcel Koller rumoured to Fcz. Would be nice to have him back in The league. Challandes to join swiss romande team perhaps?

FCZ with a 3-2 win in the derby and they have a tiny chance in reaching 3rd place. Most surprising was the 18200 strong crowd, 3 players born 91 and 92 scored, the future for the city of Zürich looks bright (as long as GC stop giving away their talents for small change).

News and Notes: Marco Streller is injured and will miss matches at least until the end of April due to an injury he picked up against FC Sion, the same match where he scored two goals in a 2-2 draw. Suspensions: Emiliano Dudar (Young Boys) and Fausto Rossini (Bellinzone) both recieved a three match ban. Ivan Benito (Aarau) recieved a one match ban. David Degen (27) has signed a new contract with BSC Young Boys for three more years, this extends his contract until 30 June 2014. AC Bellinzone new trainer, Roberto Morinini, decided to bring back 4 players the previous trainer had banned. Namely defenders Paolo Carbone and Hemza Mihoubi, Midfielder Adewale Wahab and striker Ikechukwu Kalu. The first training with Morinini at the helm drew 600 spectators. Mario Frick broke a bone in the Swiss Cup semi-final against LS. It might be possible to play through his injury, but neither he nor FCSG know.
FC Basel has announced the following contract extensions: Scott Chipperfield (34) - one year Valentin Stocker (21) - two years Pascal Schürpf (20) - two years

Basel FCSG and FC Luzern should be an interesting one. It will be interesting to see how FCSG responds from not only loosing the LS in the Cup Semi-finals, but also an assured Europa League spot, plus Frick is injured. FCZ and FCB should be a good one as well. With both Streller and Frei out, who will fill up the net for FCB?
April 10 FT Neuchatel Xamax 0 - 1 Grasshoppers FT Sion 4 - 0 Aarau FT Young Boys Bern 2 - 1 Bellinzona YB puts more distance between them and FC Basel. April 13 FT Aarau 1 - 0 Neuchatel Xamax FT Grasshoppers 2 - 1 Young Boys Bern Huge opportunity for FCB to gain some ground. That being said, FCSG is playing for a spot in Europe. Both teams will be missing some key players: Absent: FCB - F. Costanzo (injured), A. Frei (injured), Streller (injured) FCSG - Ciccone (blessé), Frick (blessé), Haas (blessé), Knöpfel (blessé), Muntwiler (blessé) With Aarau's win over Xamax, they actually put a little pressure on ACB. 1. http://sports.yahoo.com/soccer/news?slug=ap-neuchatel-managerfired Swiss club Neuchatel Xamax has fired manager Pierre-Andre Schuermann after five straight defeats. Not really a surprise. YB might yet escape. They would owe FCSG big time. April 14 52' Basel 0 - 2 St. Gallen 52' Bellinzona 0 - 1 Zurich 52' Lucerne 1 - 1 Sion
April 14 FT Basel 3 - 2 St. Gallen FT Bellinzona 1 - 4 Zurich FT Lucerne 1 - 1 Sion Basel with a stunning comeback against FCSG. Can YB hold on, they look out of sorts while FC Basel looked really good, even without Frei and Streller. Yes FCSG was missing Frick and others as well, but FCB looked good. 1. YB 30 +34 68 2. Basel 30 +31 65 3. GC 30 +12 53 4. Luzern 30 +4 45 5. St. Gallen 30 +5 43 6. Sion 30 +4 42 7. Zürich 30 +5 41 8. NE Xamax 30 0 34 9. Bellinzona 30 -45 18 10. Aarau 30 -50 14
April 17 17:45 Neuchatel Xamax ? - ? Bellinzona 17:45 Zurich ? - ? Aarau April 18 15:30 Sion ? - ? Young Boys Bern 16:00 Basel ? - ? Lucerne 16:00 St. Gallen ? - ? Grasshoppers Interesting matches all around. The matches on 17 April have several subplots. Although both FCZ and Xamax are out of the running for a Europa League spot, Xamax does have a new manager. In addition Bellinzona is only 4 points ahead of Aarau who themselves have a new manager who led them to victory during the midweek. If Aarau were to close the gap even further, they would put some then put some serious pressure on Bellinzona for the play-off spot. On 18 April, we see three very good matches. Sion is playing well and could further solidify their position in the Europa League with a win. YB need points to maintain its hope for at the Championship. FCB and Luzern both are chasing teams, FCB is three points behind YB for the lead and Luzern needs a win to keep the 4th spot and a Europa League birth. FCSG and GCZ should be great and GCZ is in good form and FCSG could leap over Luzern into the Europa League spot. It should be a good weekend of soccer.
April 17 FT Neuchatel Xamax 2 - 0 Bellinzona FT Zurich 0 - 1 Aarau April 18 FT Sion 4 - 1 Young Boys Bern FT Basel 5 - 0 Lucerne FT St. Gallen 0 - 1 Grasshoppers Basel destroys FC Luzern and YB crushed by Sion. YB is in a stretch of poor form and Basel, despite Streller and Frei out has played very well. Advantage FC Basel. Also, Sion's good run has put them into the driver's seat for the second Europa League spot. Four of the five spots are set, FCB and YB in the CL. LS and GC in the Europa League. Now it is between Sion, FC Luzern and FCSG. 1. Basel 31 +36 68 2. YB 31 +31 68 3. GC 31 +13 56 4. Sion 31 +7 45 5. Luzern 31 -1 45 6. St. Gallen 31 +4 43 7. Zürich 31 +4 41 8. NE Xamax 31 +2 37 9. Bellinzona 31 -47 18 10. Aarau 31 -49 17
Don't rule out FCZ just yet, they just fired Challandes (who might end up in his hometown Neuchatel). Urs Fischer will take over for the remaining games. Still pissed that Lausanne got the EL spot, will not be good for our co-efficients. Would be nice to see Sankt Gallen reach fourth though, they do need all the help they can get financially. This would be a dream scenario for the european places, co-efficient and publicity/crowds/finance-wise. 1. YB - since they are laughable in the qualifying stages 2. FCB - with the clubs good co-effs they always face "bad" teams in the quali 3. FCZ - Got some good experience from the CL 4. St Gallen - The "new" FCSG and the AFG Arena needs a european introduction. 5. GC - Sforza is looking like his building something real good and GC definitely needs some big name guests to bring back the popularity. With Sion having reached some kind of stability they might be an option as well.
