It's out. http://web.mlsnet.com/news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20080207&content_id=138148&vkey=pr_mls&fext=.jsp
Wow....4 straight home games then 6 straight road games to start the season. Of the home games, only one wednesday night game, one Thursday, and and both Chicago games are on Sunday (note: all 3 Chicago games are on Telefutura). Not bad...should be no excuses of bad scheduling for any attendance issues.
I've got all the Wizards dates on my blog http://downthebyline.blogspot.com/2008/02/wizards-schedule-is-out.html End the season on the road again. 3/29 vs DC United 7 4/5 vs CO 7 4/9 vs New England 7 4/12 vs Houston 7 4/20 @ Chicago 2 4/26 @ Toronto 2:30 5/3 @ Columbus 6:30 5/17 @ New York 6:30 5/24 @ LA Galaxy 9:30 6/7 @ RSL 8 6/14 vs Columbus 7 6/21 @ Toronto 3:30 6/28 vs RSL 7 7/4 @ Dallas 6 7/10 vs New York 7 7/17 @ Columbus 7 7/27 vs Chicago 7 8/2 @ DC United 6:30 8/9 vs Chivas 7 8/16 @ CO 8:30 8/23 vs Dallas 7 8/30 @ San Jose 9 9/7 @ Houston 2 9/13 vs LA Galaxy 7 9/20 vs Toronto 7 9/27 @ Chivas 9:30 10/5 vs Chicago 2 10/11 vs New England 7 10/18 vs San Jose 7 10/25 @ New England 6:30

Even then KC will only have no more than one in a row at home until September. *Yet another year (this is 5 straight, I think) of ending on the road. *KC must do big damage early or it's over. 5 of 7 away to end the season. *3 with NE, who did lose a playmaker, but they are still NE. At least two are home to offset the road season-ender at Foxboro. On the good side: *The annual road loss at Chicago is game #1 of KC's 6-game road trek. Better to have that one up front, I think, to give the guys the best chance of overcoming the karma. The numbers state clearly that points are harder to get as the n in nth consecutive MLS road game gets higher. *Only two with NY. They are under a new coach and should expect some "bump" to be better *Only two with DC - They have signed everyone *The East foes KC travels to twice are Toronto and Columbus. Not easy games, but if you must travel twice of 3 games, you would probably pick Toronto and Columbus. KC needs a guy or two now. They need everyone healthy. Heal, Davy, heal Scott! Tough to overcome losing your leading scorer two consecutive seasons and still think "Title Contender".
Our last game of the regular season is on the road again. We'll just have to wrap up a playoff spot the week before.
So Road Trip possiblities, not many this year... Sunday, Apr 20 Kansas City at Chicago Fire 3:00 TeleFutura 3:30 Saturday, May 03 Kansas City at Columbus Crew 7:30 FSC Friday, Jul 04 Kansas City at FC Dallas 7:00 HDNet Saturday, Aug 16 Kansas City at Colorado Rapids 9:30 Personally I think July 4 down in Dallas might be fun.
expected? no. hoped? absolutely. i would have liked to see how the atmosphere translated on tv. and i would have liked to hear eric wynalda's opinions on our situation. he always gives such valuable insights.
I am all about Toronto. Never been there. Looks like a hell of a time on TV. Driving is out of the option. But if you can scrounge up $700 to blow on a weekend then that is the place to go this season.
The only problem with Dallas is that it's a holliday. We would most likely lose people since they would be planning long weekend family activities. We were tossing around the idea of a Toronto roadie last season. My only concern with this would be the added cost for the trip. It's further away, so that means either a much longer driving time or flying. Then you have to add in the cost of a passport ($100) for everyone who does not already have one. I too would love to do a Toronto roadie....but if we are looking to get as many people as possible, that may not be the best route. We haven't been to Columbus in several years. I'm leaning towards that May 3rd match as a possible choice. About 10 hr drive, about $120ish to fly. We could even look into a bus charter, if we had enough early interest.
I don't have the cash to drop on a trip to Toronto this year. Columbus on the 3rd is out for me, too close to Steph's due date.
