Only 3 Rocky Mountain Cup matches and two of those are in Colorado! I can feel at least one road trip coming on!!! What is with the Thursday night match in Colorado?
soooo, stadium opening against the Red Bulls? hmmmm also, why do we always play Crapids for the last game of the year. stupid facking mls, have them come here in our new stadium for that last game. you would think they would at least reward the RMC winner with the last game of the season at home. stupid stupid stupid. 5 mid week games and a friday game, with only one of those being away. thats going to be a tough draw especially with the opponents we will be playing. all well, nothing we can do about it now, just play.
I find it interesting that we play both DC United games in April. At least we won't have to play them when they gelled by the end of the summer. Maybe we can take advantage of that.
Or the Friday night game in August? I'll be moving close enough to make it to games (3 hours) in August, but I won't be able to get to a 7:00 kick-off on a Friday!!!
It's safe to assume the August 9th date is the tentative Real Madrid friendly--assuming negotiations are completed.
Thursday pretty much eliminates any chance of me going for that match. At least for me; if they had it on Friday in Colorado it would mean only one day off instead of two. Q: How can Colorado have one RMC match where they feel they have a home crowd? A: Plan it for a weeknight when most RSL fans can't make the trip...
But the last match of the series won't even matter. We will have already won the RMC at home after winning the first and second matches of the series.
Do you think that the FO will put together a bus like they do for the Colorado games? If they do, I'll try to make it. I doubt the wife will let me go otherwise.
i might have to look into coming home for that game, august 9th is my birthday. i did the same thing two years ago when RM first came to town. too bad the stadium wont be open by then, that would be one sweet birthday.
No thanks. Last time I drove to Northern California it involved 24 hours straight to Sacramento and back to pick up a '66 Cutlass and tow it back. I don't think I ever want to make that drive again.
Garth said at the Piper Down, it was up to the fans to get the traditions started and RSL would contribute but not dictate the level of involvement. As things draw nearer it might not hurt to see what interest there is and go from there.
On a seperate note; The MLS Cup is in LA this year... Hmmm!! I may have to decide which is more important... The MLS Cup and The RM Cup or The MLS Cup and San Jose Decisions... Decisions!!!
I'm down.. That's my birthday weekend and I'm from San Jo, so I'll be going for sure. On that note, I go out there once a month or so, so I plan on catching as many games out there as I can regardless of the competion.
***REVISED DATE*** The game previously listed as Sunday, June 29 @ Kansas City is now Saturday, June 28, time still at 6:00 p.m. MT …
Now that one makes me happy! Not that I wouldn't have gone before, but now it doesn't involve an argument with my wife
I want to go to so many games(but i live 5 hours away). What will the crowd be like for the Wednesday SJ game? That seems like a fun one to go to but i don't want to go to a game where there is 5,000 people there. At the same time though i do want to put me and my friends butts in the seats in not so heavily attended games.
A midweek game will probably draw 8-10K fans. When there are less fans its is much easier to hear the RCB comments which can be very funny but R-rated at times. Also Samba Gringa is not there on midweek games which makes for some silent moments when the game gets slow. I personally don't like mid-week games, I prefer Saturday games with 15-18K fans. They have more atmosphere and the crowd is not in such a hurry to leave afterwards. I don't know about Friday games because I don't remember having one at home before.
Couple questions what does RCB stand for? Also, since i am new to RSL, Samba Gringa is a supporters club, band, both, or what? I want to go when the atmosphere is in full force but i also want to do my part and fill the stands at all times. What a quandry....
RCB stands for the "Rogue Cavaliers Brigade". We STAND in E38 and cheer on our boys; rain or shine, win or lose. Visit http://www.cavaliersbrigade.com for more info. Samba Gringa is a bunch of yuppies they found on some random sunday at a liberty park drum circle. They basically have a hippie jam fest (south park reference) during the match to "create atmosphere". The problem is they take away so much from what the RCB/Loyalists are trying to do in the stadium to create atmosphere that they just get annoying. It's funny, when you watch any televised game, they actually overpower the crowd. You can't hear anything from the stands, let alone the supporters groups. They are a joke and I, along with many others, will be glad if/when they're gone.
Hmmm, I like Samba Gringa more than the RCB and feel they add a lot more to games than the RCB. The RCB is way too impressed with harassing the opposition with vulgarity, which it thinks 'supports' RSL. Having attended DC games and seeing that their supporters groups actually *support* their own team and don't engage in continual attacks of the manliness of the opposition. IMO, the RCB misunderstands their role and if RSL makes it big, will be the object of media reports of 'hooligan groups that support RSL.' Just sayin'...
SG & RCB are both assets and both provide needed atmosphere to RSL matches. No need to pit one vs. the other. I tip my hat to both groups.
