Since we did this last year, and it was so successful, I'm hoping there will be enough interest to do this again in 2008. So I'll put it out there once again, if we did a Brewing for a couple of different types of beers ... anyone want to join in? Either by purchasing some beers or helping with the brewing/bottling? We used Incredibrew in Nashua last year, and even prior to that, Nat and I both have a great relationship with them. The costs are approximately $25-$30 for 12 22 oz bottles. It's great beer, and we can choose what we'd like. Each "canister" of beer will get us 6 cases (72 bottles per canister). Here are the beers we did last year, along with their "Brand Name": The brewing takes place two weeks prior to the bottling, so if we were to do this, we could try brewing March 8th, and have the beers ready on March 22nd, one week before our home opener. We can also do a root beer brewing, if there's interest. Thoughts? Who'd like to help? Some ideas on the beers?
I'd have no problem (depending on the # of people) making a full day of this (either the brewing or the bottling). Find some bars, have a couple of cigars down at Castro's, people spend the night, and Krista will make breakfast (she's going to kill me for volunteering her).
Count me in... I don't really know what this beer stuff you're talking about is, but I'd love to take part.
I always do a stout and a porter, because I like dark beers anyway. I'd have no problem with an IPA. We can do 6 beers. Pick from the list, and tell me which one you'd like to do.
I am so in for this, tell Krista if she will let me in her kitchen I will be responsible for breakfast. Take the pressure off her.
I'll put myself down as a "maybe". It'll be interesting to see how this all goes down, and the place is just over a mile from my house, all depends on how much work I've got on my plate at the time.
I like the IPA idea as well...I could also go for a bitter...maybe call it Bobby Kraft Bitter or something?
How about a light beer? They have one that they liken to an Amstel Light, and Mike and Seamus came up with some great name suggestions. I'm not a huge fan of light beers, but they have their moments, and the name play on the empty roster spots amuses me. I'd highly vote against a Light Beer. The Czech Pilsner we made last year was the lightest we did, and well ... it wasn't that good. 72 bottles of something that not everyone will drink is tough, and I know personally, I wouldn't want any of them. We could always do a "Allocate This Stout," or something? BTW, everyone's volunteering their time ... but I need to know for when? We'll need about a dozen people for the brewing, and probably that many (or more) for the bottling. The bottling is definitely more fun. The house is open on either night for those that want to stay. It could be a fun couple of days.
I hated the pilsner as well. My calendar is pretty clear after next weekend until March 21, so I am up for any weekend.
you are very close to the edge MISTER!!!! You'll have to be nice for at least a week prior! What are you saying about the cooking, Karen????? As long as you like Cocoa and don't complain about breakfast (ED!!) then all are welcome and encouraged. All I ask is you take all your beers with you in the morning.... hmmm..... 2 days of full breakfasts... interesting challenge....
I said I would take care of breakfast, hell, I'll be the first one up anyway And I never complain about someone else's cooking. But I am also willing to help with anything you like.
