I know there's a ton of folks around here that are totally on top of new albums and when they're released. I'm pretty plugged into certain genres, but not others. Anyway, I figure this might be a good spot to post about things that are getting released before they happen and a general place to discuss music released this year as it comes out. Why wait 'til the end of the year to talk about it all?

One disc coming out in February that I'm looking forward to is:

Atlas Sound: Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel

Atlas Sound is the new band of Bradford Cox of Deerhunter. If their three song Weekend EP from '07 is any indication, this thing should be amazing.

Not that I'm aware of. I did listen to the samples on Amazon though and there were some guest vocals on some of the tracks.

Next year is all about Foals. Their debut album, Antidotes, is due out in March.

For anyone interested I would recommend taking a quick listen to 'Balloons' which can be found on their myspace site, Foals will be THE band of 2008!

this may be a great CD and I'm not judging the quality ... but the title of this album makes me want to punch them in the balls.
    It just does.

Quite looking forward to the Vines fourth album, though I'm not into them as much as I used to be.

Nada Surf's fifth album (Lucky) should be a good listen, Quaristice by Autechre, Panic! at the Disco's second...I'm sure they'll be a lot more cool stuff coming out!

Also, my band should get a little 4-song EP sometime around summer, hopefully!

I saw the Foals at CMJ (pianos, I think) and the hype was nuts. All in all, they were a lot of fun. High energy, cool sound (like a non-ironic the Rapture). But, man, their songs were all too long. They went on and on to the point of taking the groove too far.

Oh, and they look silly with their guitars up real high. :)

ughhh, looks like I'm sitting out 2008. they sound like every other hipster band of the moment that some critic loves but everybody else moves on from rather quickly.
ok, that was too cranky and I didn't mean it that way.
just not my type of music.
I hope you enjoy it, though. :)

New Moby on March 10. He says it's "a love letter to New York dance music."

February 12th - The Heavy Circles - Featuring Edie Brickell, Harper Simon & Friends - check them out at http://www.theheavycircles.com

New Matt Costa on 1/22 sounds good from what I heard.

I also pre-ordered the new Jack Johnson - coming out Feb 5th - I bought it on iTunes and it sent a song out right away. He's going a little electric this time around, but still has a simular tone as his other stuff:

This cover reminds me of a CD I really like, but I can't remember the artist or the album name. About a Boy??!! Has that song Paper Cut on it.
