Even though the comments I am about to post below are from our German Cup win over Bremen last night, I thought to post them here because they cover something we've been talking about for quite awhile.

The f#cking failure that is Nelson Valdez.

The comments below are from Chris Schuepp of our BVB e-mail list.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Chris wrote - On our offense/midfield: I thought the most obvious thing last night was that Valdez is simply too f#cking stupid to play with Petric.

Petric plays in a different league altogether. He is smart as f#ck when it comes to football. The only player we have who gets close to him in terms of football on-the-pitch intelligence and intuition is Federico.

Tinga is a close second to Federico, but he is too defensive to make things connect with Petric.

Valdez just doesn't have a f#cking clue where to run and where to expect the ball when Petric has it.

Valdez is too stupid to be a good footballer. My opinion.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    What do you guys think??

I think Chris is f#cking spot on and I wish I'd thought to put it that way myself.......

You know where the best place might be for Valdez besides the far end of our bench??

    THE PREMIERSHIP!!!

I think part of Roque Santa Cruz's problem at Bayern was that he just couldn't keep up tactically.

No, I'm not saying all Paraguyan strikers are too stupid for the Bundesliga, but Santa Cruz and Valdez have the same "modus operandi." Run like crazy fools, but not be very productive.

But you have seen that Roque moved to Blackburn and immediately became their best striker. I think Valdez would do well in England too.

Not too many tactics there and his energy would be a huge plus......

But could we get anyone to buy or take him on loan for next season? Maybe Blackburn?? Everton??

Man, was I mistaken on Valdez. :(

same here, i thought we got ourselves a good striker, looks like he's a better bench warmer than a striker

I think I was happy that BVB management had finally done something and I was frustrated with our strikers' inability to hit the back of the net consistently.

All we really had was Smolarek and he only scored when he was on one of his "hot streaks."

I always said BVB management paid too much for Valdez, but hoped he would repay that faith.

This guy has been nothing short of a colossal failure just as "Gunning4Chelsea" said he would be.

Apparently, he's some type of superstar in training and scores like nobody's business in matches that don't count.

But you turn on the lights, fill the stadium and put something on the line, Nelson Valdez shits his pants and disappears.

If Valdez doesn't start to repay management's faith in him soon this season, I hope management decides to cut their losses with this sorry f#cker after this season.

I'd rather see our amateur striker Christopher Nöthe get his chance than continue to endure this f#cking bullshit from Valdez......

No. I didn't say that. However, for what we paid for him, Nelson Valdez has been a complete failure.

    Cool. I understand.

Right on. I'd rather have goals, but I also would not mind if we get rid of his ass at the end of the season.

I know that. That is what I want. Nothe to get that spot.

What I meant was finding someone to take Valdez........

Dude, maybe I just have my signals crossed here.

I don't care about "looking for a Valdez replacement." We agree Nothe should get that shot.

Valdez can be "replaced" easily. The major thing I am concerned with is trying to find a club stupid enough to buy him.

We need to try to recoup at least a little of the money we spent on him.

ofcourse, the more we could the better, but like you said the hardest thing will be to find a club stupid enough to buy him.

Dede got a four match suspension for his red card against Schalke yesterday. He will miss our trip to Cottbus (16 Feb), a home match against Rostock (23 Feb), a trip to Bremen (1 Mar) and the Friday home match against Hertha BSC Berlin (7 Mar).

He will be eligible to return for the match at Hamburg on 15 Mar.

A two-footed tackle against Rakitic. I think he got an extra game because of this being the fourth sending off in his Bundesliga career.

Yeah. But he did it. No one to blame but himself. The red card was justified.

I hope this is not true, but SportBild reports in today's issue that Watzke has given Kehl a Metzelder-style ultimatum.

They say Watzke has given Kehl until the end of this month to accept BVB's contract extension offer.

They quote Watzke as saying "We expect a decision from Sebastian by the end of the month."

The extension terms are apparently for three years at three million Euros per season.

They mention that he also has offers from Real Betis and Atletico Madrid.

If this is true, then I think our guys haven't learned anything from the Metzelder fiasco......

What is your gut feeling on this?
The Kehl to Bayern rumours are getting pretty loud as well...

Well, today, BVB denied that there was any ultimatum.

I also think the Kehl to Bayern rumors are bullshit. I think if he leaves, he'll go to Atletico Madrid.

My gut feeling is that he will stay with us. However, I cannot say that is a "neutral" opinion. It is a biased one.
