i hate diving in football as well but as i said before there is nothing we can do to stop it and i agree with you when you say our players have skill but the players do use their skill as you can see in the prem from ronaldo.

I'm asking for clarification. What you posted was deeply, deeply offensive and clearly warrants some official recognition.

If you had any decency you'd go back and edit it out

After all this discussion here is my resume:
1º We lost, AGAIN with France, and AGAIN a PK doubtful.
2º We win, AGAIN at England and Netherlands. With or without "diving", we win.
3º Portugal is the Best Team, and Euro 2008 will be ours. Força Portugal.

    For me thread close!

Cmon....in the game game against the Dutch we had 41% vs 59% ball possession. If it was us that got the lead first we would have done the same the French did.

of course the stats show this, we were losing and we needed a tie, so of course we are going to have better stats than France.

Numbers mean nothing......actually the only number that matters is how many goals can we score on our opponent.

I haven't read much about the Portugal-France game but is it me or Deco chose the Worst Game possible to have his Worst Game ever???
To me (and I love the guy) he was the worst player on the field. Other than the shot on goal he took in the 1st half all he did was turn over the ball (how many give aways did he have? ). He was at his absolute WORSE yesterday and we needed him so terribly in that midfield fight. If it wasn't for Maniche, the French would have had a cake walk in the middle.
To me this is was the key to our game, not having Deco on at least 70% of his game... Am I wrong in thinking this way?

Sometimes I wonder whether you really are Portuguese:eek:

I was trying to find a "silver lining" I don't need you to shoot holes in it:D

My Point is...one team played soccer on Wednesday the other as we like to say "parked the bus" early I might add...this even before the goal...

In the end, nothing changes. France scored more than Portugal did in the game, and while it is definately disheartening, the NT have proven that Euro 2004 was no fluke, that Portugal does have a team that can rise in tournament play, and the NT is inching ever so closely to getting that elusive title of theirs. Whether it be a Euro or a WC, it's coming closer and closer. For now, we have positive memories of Germany and we can all hold our heads high knowing that they had surpassed expectations and did their best.

I'd wish you could have given us a little more time to dissect the loss against the Freeking French, I mean, it's not even 24 hours after the game and still so much to talk about and the Portugal_France thread is already closed

Here is something I posted in the thread and would like some feedback::rolleyes:

    Re: 2006 World Cup: 3rd/4th Place - Portugal x Germany [R]

Our best game was against Mexico!! We had no Deco, No Costinha and No Pauleta!!!

Do i need to say more???

Deco once again was a no show, the sameway he was a no show for the other game and a half he played. He had one moment of genius, the goal against Iran, but he under performed....i don't think he is in 100% form right now, it was a long season with Barcelona and i think he has a small injury.

    Re: 2006 World Cup: 3rd/4th Place - Portugal x Germany [R]

Let's not compare Mexico to France...

France are Head and Shoulders better then Mexico...If Portugal didn't beat Mexico they should have taken the short plane ride back right after that game:D

Portugal beat the teams they should have...and had tough battles with the better teams...it was what should have been expected...

Let's keep things in perspective...Portugal had chances against France..didn't capitalize and got burnt for it.

Let's not overhaul the program...the team is probably 2 players away from being very, very difficult to beat...you will need to replace Figo, Pauleta and Costinha everyone else should be ok for the EURO...add Quaresma, Moutinho, Custodio, Manuel Fernandes...
