Poachin, you'vew got a great new coaching staff, and UGA's going to continue moving up in college soccer.

I REALLY hated to see Coach Baker and his assistants leave FSU. Fortunately, it's worked out wonderfully for both schools.

First of all...Good job starting the new thread ! Lots of things to analyze and look forward to for 06'. This transfer is exciting news. Check out the frosh season @ VATECH ! When I first heard about it I logged onto the Hokie website to check her out. If I remember correctly she is a big forward which is nice to have in the SEC !

As far as the Guess kid @ UNC..... This thread would be "off the hook" (as my daughters would say) if there were any truth to it.

If that is true it is unfortunate for her. I'm sure she will get back on track somewhere. She is from Athens....maybe just....maybe. It's too good to even start fantasizing about.

Dani is one of the best defenders in the country and we look forward to her assisting our back line immediately. Her years of experience on the regional ODP team will be invaluable to her as she transitions to the college game. Baker's Take: "Lauren one of two U-17 Region III team players from the state of Georgia. She is one of the most technically gifted players I will be fortunate enough to have the opportunity to coach. She can do a lot of things with the ball that others simply cannot. The tactical awareness she possesses along with her precision passes make her very dangerous with the ball at her feet. Lauren's ability to play quality balls in behind defenders and defenses may be some of the best in her age group. She is one of Georgia's best midfielders and we are excited to have her wearing Red and Black."

Todd Shulenberger (Tophat): "In my ten years at Tophat, Carrie may be the best athlete I've ever had the opportunity to coach. She is a tremendous physical speciman and a real go-getter. When look at her you see a shy, innocent girl, but then you watch her play and you just say "Wow". She is a very hard-working, multi-sport athlete and can be a great asset to the University of Georgia."

Baker's Take: "Carrie is the fourth player from Tophat to commit to UGA and the seventh player from Georgia. As a member of the U-19 Region III Team, she is arguably the second-best forward coming out of Georgia this year and will be a welcomed addition to our forward line. She has great size, speed and ability to score goals. We have been impressed with her since our arrival to UGA and feel very fortunate to have her coming to Athens. Carrie can hurt a team by herself or through combination play. She is continually investing in her game and could be a focal point up top for us this fall."

Personal: Born February 20, 1988...daughter of Luke and Susan Betos.

Celia Mosier (Goalkeeper Coach, Personal Coach): "Michelle has a tremendous presence on the field. She reads the game as well as any goalkeeper I have encountered. Michelle is a good shot-stopper, she is great in the air and she really dominates the box better than most kids her age are able to. On and off the field she has a great work ethic and is always calling me to find out what else she can do to make herself better. I don't think she'll have any problem transitioning into the college game. She played at such a high club level and now for the regional team that the pace of play and technical ability of the players should be familiar to her. She gets adjusted to new environments and situations very quickly. She is a very smart kid."

Baker's Take: "Michelle was our last 2006 commitment and is a member of the Region I U-17 Team. She is one of the best goalkeepers from the East and viewed as maybe one of the top 10 goalkeepers in the country. Her mentality and desire to be a very good goalkeeper is her biggest asset. She possesses great hands, good command of her box and distributes the ball very well. She will challenge for a starting spot right away and we look forward to being part of her development."

Brian Moore (Peachtree City): "Leslie has provided good, solid wide play for our team and hopefully she can continue to do so at the collegiate level. She serves a great ball from the flank and is very good on set pieces as well."

Baker's Take: "Leslie is the second of two Peachtree Lazers committed to the 2006 Bulldog recruiting class and will also join the UGA Honors Program. Leslie is going to help us as an outside back or wide in the midfield. We like her ability to get up and down the sideline, plus she possesses a great service. She travels from Savannah to Atlanta to play for her club and that dedication and commitment means a lot to us. Leslie is a good athlete with the right combination of size and speed. We are excited to have her as one of seven players from the state of Georgia attending UGA this fall

She is an emotional player and very driven to succeed, which makes her raise her game to another level. I believe that when Elizabeth is being trained day in and day out by professional college coaches, she will really progress and expand her ability."

Baker's Take: "Elizabeth was the third camp attendee to commit to UGA. She is one of two players from Savannah, Ga. Her family has a long tradition at Georgia, as her father played on the 1980 National Championship football team. Like Blaine, she attended our positional camp and made a big impression on us. We love her size, strength and ability to put herself about the midfield. She is great in the air and will be an excellent target on set pieces. What distinguishes her as a player is that she is very smart and has great tactical awareness. She adds another dimension to the game with her vision and thought, and she really has a nose for the goal. She is an inquisitive, outspoken kid who's attitude and self esteem will help her adjust to any coach's system"

Baker's Take: "Britta is our only 2006 recruit from Tennessee, but follows former High School All-American and 2005 Tennessee Player of the Year Kristin Garman to Athens. Britta made an unbelievable impression on us during our advanced camp session last summer. Unknown to us prior to camp, we knew after the first day that she was special and someone we wanted in our program. She is versatile in that she can play in the midfield and/or up top, plus she could play wide or centrally depending on the system. Britta is a tremendous athlete, very dangerous running at players and plays at a very high level mentally. Our fans will love seeing this young lady run at opposing team's defenses."

What really puts her over the top though is her desire to play the game and work at it."

Baker's Take: "Natalie is our only 2006 recruit from Texas and is going to make immediate impacts in our midfield. She has good size, tackles well, can take people on and is a very good passer of the ball. Although she has played up top before, her best position in college will be in the midfield. We went to the 2005 Houston Shootout looking for a new player not on our radar and Natalie was the one that caught our eye. Her playing experiences with the Texans and the success that team has enjoyed will help adjust very quickly to the college game. Natalie is going to have a very good career here."

Lindsay is a point maker - she will generate assists and she will make the passes that lead to assists and lead to goals."

Baker's Take: "Lindsay is the only recruit from Region IV in the 2006 class. She is going to make an immediate impact here at Georgia. Her speed and ability to run past people make her very dangerous up top or wide in the midfield. She is also very skillful and creates chances for herself and her teammates. When I received my email notification of your post, I thought that you were referring to Auburn University. After reading your actually post I was relieved to see that you were referring to Woodward Academy. For a second there, I thought that I would need to locate and download an upraised middle finger smilie to provide an appropriate response but its all good. :D

Scott Rodgers(Cup Red): "I think what makes Olivia really stand out is her creativity. She has the ability to find the pass or find the goal that a lot of players cannot. She is a very coachable player, dedicated to the game and to her teammates. She is a fun player to coach, who will play any position you ask her to without batting an eye. Olivia brings something different to the table that not a lot of players can. The transition from high school to collegiate soccer is a difficult one, but I am very excited that she will be playing for Patrick Baker. He is a great coach who will help make her transition as smooth as possible and I think she will do extremely well in his system. I think Georgia is very lucky to get her, she is a great player and a great kid."

Baker's Take: "Olivia was the first verbal commitment of 2006 for us. A member of the U-17 and U-18 Region II Teams, she is one of the best forwards in the country entering college this fall. She has a wealth of experiences at the regional and national levels and is someone we are counting on to create chances and score goals within the framework of our system. Her technical ability and understanding of the game are at the highest levels. She was the first to commit and her decision changed the complexion of our program at a very important time. Look for Olivia to have four productive years at the University of Georgia.
