and what might this secret weapon be? is laidlaw gonna lace 'em up??
and if talent is gonna rule the day look for loras to win and like you said wartburg to advance as well. does anyone think like me that whoever does not win the final, assuming its loras v. wartburg, that they will still get an invite into the dance? i believe they do.

it definitly would not surprise me if the loser of Loras Wartburg made the dance. I could even see Wartburg losing to Luther and still having a shot at the dance depending on how other conferences go.

Loras-Central will be a close game, I wouldn't be surprised if it went to PKs

no question i think wartburg is in no matter what they do this weekend. i could definitely see central/loras going to pks. loras is young and it takes some big time leadership in the tourney. we were close twice in my 4 years at loras losing in the finals to luther both times. heres to hoping loras can get it done!!!

well I called it: 1-1 (7-6) Loras goes through to the finals.

    Warburg easily handles Luther.

I found an IIAC message board for football at d3football.com Anyway, there were posts wondering why the Simpson game was changed to 12:00 from 1:00 and most of them were having a hard time with the fact soccer could bump a footbal game. I got a good chuckle out of that.

and Wartburg take it in OT.

Now the question is, does Loras make the tournament?

that will be a tough matchup for the Duhawks, the Gusties will be tough, they beat Central this year 2-0, Simpson 3-0, and Luther 2-1 in OT, and they're hosting the event which also has Wartburg-North Park as the other game.

Here's the full bracket for those interested.

no question a tough draw for the DuHawks facing Gustavus. It will be interesting to see who comes out from that bracket. All 4 teams are really strong. I was glad to see that Loras was not shipped out West to Washington or Cali to face one of those teams out there. I like the odds versus GAC in comparison to a UC-Davis, Redlands, Pugent Sound type team. All in all a good draw and it would be cool for both Loras and Wartburg to face off in the 2nd round again, hard to beat a team 3 times!!!

by the way, nice pic kuhn, zidane in family guy was great!!!

yeah it woulda been tough for them to go west.

My question is, how did a 1 loss UC-Santa Cruz get shipped to Texas to play in Trinity's bracket?

that's a very good question. the only thing i can think of is that where else can you really send them? looks like they wanted to seperate santa cruz and redlands, which they accomplished via they are on opposite sides of the bracket. another question how does rochester at 8-5-3 get in? i would really like to see a tourney much like others with actual ranked seeds. i realize this will probably never happen because of the logistical problems and money. but hell you are sending some teams miles away right now, why not seed them all?

games i would like to see in person:
Loras v. GAC----for obvious personal reasons
    Aurora v. Dominican----battle of small chi-town schools
Trinity(assuming they win 1st rd) v. winner of Pugent Sound/Santa Cruz----battle of some dominating teams this year

How about another IIAC playoff game! Come on Loras, come on Wartburg! Do it one more time! Statistcally speaking the odds are 4:1 against this happening. Realistically speaking the odds against this happening are even greater. But remember that famous line from the movie 'Dumb and Dumber',

"So there is a chance that you'll go out with me"

And Wartburg advances to play Wheaton, they defeated North Park 2-1, and GA 1-0. Loras lost 1-0 to GA.

Big game today (vs. Wheaton) . Can Wartburg make the IIAC proud? I think it's a pick em game. could go either way. don't expect a blowout from either side.

well Wartburg is done. 2-1 loss to Wheaton. Looked to be a fairly even game looking at the stats.

The funny thing is, read the description of Harrison's goal, gave me a laugh since it actually appears like this in the report.

Totally not soccer related, just wanted to give some props to Luther's cross country teams. After both teams won the conference meet, the women finished 11th at nationals, and the men finished 6th. Great stuff.

Graceland wins the NAIA title in pks over Azusa Pacific. Is this the first Iowa college soccer team to win a national title?

Where did all the Ia soccer fans go? The Iowa Conf will need to be on their toes this fall as there is a new sherrif in town at Coe. With the new coach and new stadium in 2008 they could pose a thorn in the side of the rest of the conference.

we all moved on to other things since the season is over.

I still don't expect much out of Coe next season even if they did bring in a new coach (which is a good hire in my opinion). They did not win a game last season and I don't see a huge turnaround for them coming in 07 especially with some of the rest of the talent in the conference.

You gotta give props to Coe for hiring a guy named Homer Screws. That name alone will make Coe my second favorite team behind Dubuque!!!
