http://chicago.fire.mlsnet.com/MLS/...ent_id=17394&vkey=news_chf&fext=.jsp&team=chf For all of those of you who would like to see this worn more than a few token times next year, I bet a ridiculously strong presale would help get MLS' attention. Hint, hint
Sorry for the ignorant question but this means if we order now we still have to wait until May to get the shirt right?
No idea but I would assume that is the case. Call and find out when sales start to be sure. Maybe they will ship preorders early.
Sweet! I wonder if they'll be available in XXL? I don't like the cut of the current Puma jersey, too narrow. I'm 6'-1" 225 and even the XL felt small. (Sucks to get old...and fat.) This jersey ranks pretty high in MLS history, at least that's my take.
Is this like back in the 70s when they couldn't produce the Star Wars action figures in time for Christmas, so you could pre-order them and get....a card for Christmas that said eventually you'd get a Chewbacca? "Thanks, Mom!" If the pre-sale is $70, what's the cost going to be in May? If you can buy one now and I can buy one in May and we'll both have them in May, what's the incentive?
Free shipping perhaps? I wonder if they'll still offer that for overseas orders. Probably not Nice shirt though.
Best jersey in the league right there. Get rid of the white one, and have that as your secondary jersey. It is stunning. White shorts look fine with it also (maybe red shorts, who knows), but I probably will get one, and it will be my only MLS jersey (I can't stand the tacky "metrostars" or "los angeles galaxy" splashed across the front of the jersey, it looks horrible).
Actually I don't really understand the failure to do this. The horizontal stripe has been a hallmark of Fire jerseys since day one, and the Chicago flag has the stars on a horizontal band of white. Seems like a natural. It would retain the traditional Chicago "look" and more closely tie the shirt to the Chicago flag and thus perhaps make it slightly more understandable to outsiders.
Maybe you guys could wear them as you lose the Brimstone cup games again next year. Just kidding- Im not trolling I actually like the jersey. At least you guys have a jersey. We are still waiting for the new FC Dallas kit to be unveiled. Congrats on a very cool 3rd (or 4th) jersey.
I love it just the way it is. I'm ordering one for each of my four family members so that we can go to games looking alike. Men in Red, Boys in Blue, Knights in White. Go Fire!
I don't know if it would make it more 'understandable' but it would have been a nice addition. PUMA said they had some design limitations on this particular jersey style that precluded a chest stripe from being included in that way without comprimising the jersey's game performance. What that means, mainly, is they had no way of doing it except to heavy-print it over the jersey fabric (heat transfer or vinyl) and that would have made it uncomfortable to wear. I hope this is not the only version of this jersey we'll ever see and it becomes our regular third (or second)...which means lobbying for closer designs to that in future versions. Like I said, strong sales and positive feedback will only encourage that (from PUMA and eventually adidas).
I think it's excellent. I sure am going to miss having Puma as our kit sponsor. Such personal attention ain't likely under the socialist Adidas control of '06. Though I hope they prove me wrong. Here's a link to a large image of the 3rd kit: four stars for you. Maximum Respect, Don Crafts Chicago Fire, USA
I know that I'm getting one for sure. Liam you rock mate. Got you name mentioned in the Press Release as well. Cheers for all your hard work. Have no problems with the Fire or the club whatsoever. I just think they could have done a nicer kit launch. Maybe they could have done a cool unveiling of the kit to garner some exciting about its release. I was thinking maybe a professional photoshoot with some of the first team wearing the new kit. Like this Yeah I know we die-harders dont really care if they had Quasimodo wearing it. I just think there are proper ways to do things. Plus the fact that they announced it on a Friday. I think if they held a press conference and invited the media they might have garnered a bit more attention. Just a thought. I work in the marketing field, sorry.
They could have done this: To be fair, the Fire did a kit unveiling at the zoo when Puma came on board. And kit unveilings just aren't that big a deal over here. And the media, for the most part, just doesn't really care. I work in the media, sorry.
I think the deal with adidas is gonna be great for MLS but I do fear that the jerseys might be a bit cookie cutter. Letting the fans(or a fan) have input is a great idea and this new 3rd jersey is great. It has meaning. Congrats Fire. Are you listening adidas?
I'm pretty sure they are going to do an unveiling...just all of them at once including the new home and away. But I don't know that it'll be a big deal like before because, after all, PUMA is a lame-duck supplier.
