Here's a thread from the Korea forum that "confirms" Korea will be in California for 3 weeks in January, playing 3 games, including 1/22/05 vs. US. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152518&page=2&pp=15 I don't recall seeing that in this forum. Can somebody confirm that?
I was under the impression tha the Draw for the Hex was yesterday? Was I misinformed? Was the draw behind closed doors? When will the fixtures be posted. I have plane tickets to purchase....
Word around the campfire is that the long rumored US-England friendly will be Memorial Day weekend. That's all I can say at this point.
ESPN2 has a U.S. men's game scheduled, no opponent or site named, at 5 p.m. on January 30. Sounds like the Sweden match. They also have time blocked off for the Feb. 9, March 26 and March 30 qualifiers , all at 8 p.m. I guess those are dependent on the site and opponent. Edited to say I should have read the whole thread first.
In another thread it says Korea is making the trip over. Three games were scheduled, including one against on January 22 against us. Nothing was said about locations though. Should be a fun game, even though it said that Ahn guy who did the speedskating after his goal in WC02 won't make the trip. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152823
You are correct. I circled the wrong darned Tuesday on my calendar. The story of my life.... Thanks for the information.
I am assuming Korea on the 22nd and Sweden on the 30th. Wouldn't surprise me to have a third match in the middle. Bruce and USSF have tried to get events like this to mimic competitions like the World Cup opening round that feature 3 matches with tight turnaround.
Sounds correct. The first one probably airing on FSW and/or HDNet- SUM will probably work on the financial costs to put a game on FSW (reduced audience affects sponsors) once the game is confirmed. As for England or another big opponent, I still haven't seen any major soccer writer give a reference to it, so I'm not sure I believe that one is happening yet. Also, Memorial Day is an awful time from England's perspective. It's about a week or so after the FA Cup Final and only a few days after the Champions League Final (if an English team happens to make it). IMO the only way England can field an "A" team is if the game were to be played during the international period in August (since I think the US will have World Cup Qualifiers taking up all the FIFA match dates in June).
What time is the FIFA draw tomorrrow (tuesday) ??? My new employer's firewall thinks bigsoccer is a porn site, must plan accordingly. -bs
Straight from fifaworldcup.com: "The draw for the final round of the North, Central American and Caribbean Zone preliminary competition will take place in Zurich on November 30th, at 13:00 hrs. local time" Which, if I did my math correctly, is 7 a.m. ET, 4 a.m. PT. http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/t/zone/ncc.html
Help a guy at work out who doesn't have time to research anything. Which matches are at home and which ones are the away ones?
Home team is listed FIRST. 2/9 TRI-USA 3/26 MEX-USA 3/30 USA-GUA 6/4 USA-CRC 6/8 PAN-USA 8/17 USA-TRI 9/3 USA-MEX 9/7 GUA-USA 10/8 CRC-USA 10/12 USA-PAN
Tough way to start... first two matches on the road. @ Trinidad doesn't scare me that much, although no road qualifier is a gimme. And match two -- @ Mexico, probably at Azteca. Tough road to hoe to start the final round.
The United States' semifinal group showed that the standings after one game mean nothing. After one semifinal game, El Salvador was first and they went on to finish last, the United States was tied for second and they went on to finish first, and Panama was last and went on to finish second. Although two draws for two points isn't great, anytime Mexico doesn't win at home is good for us. The United States should have somewhere from 1 to 4 points after two games; I don't expect them to win both and losing both would certainly be a disappointment.
