May as well start this now...

The 2004-2005 Emmy Awards nominations will be announced at 8:35am (ET) tomorrow. The complete list will be available online within a few minutes of that announcement at http://www.emmys.org . So we'll see how well Desperate Housewives does as a comedy, even though it's a drama. Will Lost get the lion's share of drama series noms, and will this FINALLY be the year for Lauren Graham and Gilmore Girls to make significant noise and be the WB's breakthrough after more than a half-decade of criminal disrespect from the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences.

This is the thread to vent, to rejoice, to analyze. Wonder if the mods can sticky this for just tomorrow?

Complete lists can be d/l'd here. The Emmys have become like the Grammys in that they'll give out an Emmy for any category imaginable.

Either The West Wing or Six Feet Under benefitted big time from Desperate Housewives being classified as a comedy. If they're in the drama category, one of those shows gets bumped, and it's probably The West Wing.

Desperate Housewives as a comedy also kills Lauren Graham's hopes of a nomiation, to the fury of folks on some other sites, with Teri Hatcher, Marica Cross, AND Felicity Huffman all getting Best Actress nominations. Patricia Heaton and Jane Kaczmarek get the other two nods in that category.

And the gay lobby of the Academy surely voted as a bloc to propel Will and fscking Grace to its highest nomination total ever, even as six million viewers decided the show wasn't their cup of tea last season and watched other stuff. That after the suck-ass season they had, Will and Grace competing for best comedy is credibility-destroying for the Emmys.

It's all about George Sr. and Lucille.

I don't know who I want to win more:
-- Jeffrey Tambor for not winning last year -- not to mention never winning for Hank Kingsley (crime!); or
-- Jessica Walter, so she can go "Eeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

How is Chappelle Show Season 2 not up for best variety series?

Will Arnett should have gotten a nod for supporting actor in a comedy series.

    Best hairstyling? Who cares?
