Any idea when the remaining locations for the US World Cup qualifying matches will be announced (in particular the matches against Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago and Mexico?)
The president of the Colombian federation announced a game against the USMNT on the 9th of March. http://www.colombia.com/futbol/noticias/DetalleNoticia25504.asp
This should be in Los Angeles as Bruce told me directly there would likely be a match in several weeks in Los Angeles and the Galaxy website pretty much confirms there will be a US camp in LA as the Galaxy will face the full USMNT most likely after a LA/SJ match on March 3.
you need to put times on the schedule. i know a lot are "TBA" ... but when it gets closer, you can put the time. for example, the TnT game...what time is that (i still don't know, i would guess 6:30 eastern time) this is the definitive schedule ... you need to have the times as well. thanks. keep up the good work, though..
The match against Trinidad starts at 2:30 p.m. Eastern and will be on ESPN2 live. The Mexico game will start at 1 p.m. Eastern on Sunday the 27th (per info on US Soccer and the Mexican Federation site).
This would be great!!! Please let this happen!!! I think the US definitely needs a friendly between the Trinidad and Mexico games. Colombia, at this point, would be a good opponent. Heck, anybody at this point would be good.
Added all the known details, at least what we know up to the moment... just keep checking back to Rob's original post on a periodic basis, and more into will be added. Added the TV details, too.
Mexico will play Argentina on March 9 in Los Angeles, according to the Argentine FA. Source: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/soc/3026399 I wonder if the timing would allow for a US v. Argentina friendly. I'm assuming the US and Mexico will meet enough in two qualies and possibly a Gold Cup match, without adding a friendly.
Arena has in the past scheduled two matches wednesday then weekend. Can you imagine two doubleheaders: Wednesday night US-Colombia and Mexico-Argentina then on saturday US-Argentina and Mexico-Colombia. I think the Rose Bowl would be needed for this one. But this is just speculation.
Wow! Talk about expanding the pie of USSoccer revenue. Let's see. 2 dates selling 100,000 tickets each at an average price of $50 per ticket would be $10M, not a bad take, even after paying the Rose Bowl and whatever other costs, and whatever obligatory rev-sharing with other countries' feds. Someone who was running all the numbers in that 2,000 post labor strife thread help us out here. And on the pitch, obviously playing a top-5 team like ARG would also be a fantastic tuneup in the year before the WC Finals. Excuse me while I speculate myself into a frenzy . . .
I sort of doubt it everyone of those countries but the US have leagues that will be in full swing on that Saturday and Sunday.
Anyone have time to see if ESPN2 has a possible block of time allotted for this Wednesday March 9 match? Or perhaps FSC will pick up the game?
Looks like a "No" for ESPN - it's College Basketball conference tournament week. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tvlistings/schedule?date=20050309&network=2. Can't tell yet regarding FSC.
Well it'd be a perfect chance for them to make that whole America's Soccer Channel thing ring true...
If SUM gets the sponsors to okay it, then FSC and possibly HDNet will show it. That assumes the game will actually be played.
Hmmm, "No" for ESPN is probably a good thing then...I can see a triple overtime game between an 8th seed and 1st seed spilling over the 1st half of the match. Go FSC!!!!
FSC usually runs "this week" and "next week" tv schedules on its website. TiVo gives about 12-13 days' lead time. Is there another source for finding such info?
Yeah, that would suck. Remember in 1998 when the US played Holland in Miami, i think. There was a cheap basketball game on and it went into overtime and by the time they switched over to the game it was 1-0 Holland and in like the 15th minute or so. Totally ruined the game for me.
