I know sports streaks end all the time, but has anyone seen a year in which so many have bit the dust? The recent Redskins/incumbent jinx ending made me think of all the streaks below.

    Can anyone think of more?

    Football:

    * Washington Redskins 70+-year home loss/incumbent President jinx snapped

    * New England Patriots 21-game win streak snapped (NFL record 18 consecutive regular season wins)

    * Jerry Rice's NFL record streak of 274 consecutive games with at least one reception snapped

    * San Francisco 49ers NFL record 27-year, 420 game streak of scoring in every game snapped

    * Florida, Florida State and Miami all lost on the same weekend for the first time since '78

    * De La Salle HS (Concord, CA) national record 13-year, 151-game win streak snapped (Note: The 49er and De La Salle streaks both ended at the same place, Qwest Field in Seattle.)

    Baseball:

    * Boston Red Sox break 86-year World Series jinx

    * Oakland A's miss playoffs for first time in 5 years

    Soccer:

    * Arsenal's English Premier League record 49-match winning streak snapped

    * Chicago Fire miss MLS playoffs for first time in team's 7-year history

    Golf:

    * Tiger Woods' 5-year run as #1 ranked golfer in world snapped

    Olympics:

    * US men's basketball team loses for first time since 1988

    * US fails to qualify in baseball for first time
