&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp I just received the 2004 San Jose Earthquakes Team Calendar in the mail, along with a "Happy Holidays from your 2003 MLS Cup Champions" card! :D

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp The card is nice and the calendar is sweet (you can apparently order more from here once they get more in stock). They seem to be holiday gifts to those who sent in their season-ticket deposits before the December 12th deadline. :)

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp GO EARTHQUAKES!!!

Calendar is really nice. And the card is hand-signed(!), by Johnny and someone else whose scrawl I can't make out.

The Fate of Ronnie Eklund...The Writing is on the Wall

Anyone wondering whether or not the Quakes paln to re-sign Eklund, the handwriting may be on the wall. Or on the calander, actually. The Quakes team calander arrived in the mail today and...he's not in it. You'd think a collection of 12 Quake player photos would include him if he was going to still be here, wouldn't you?

    Too bad...

Who are the twelve players? Is Manny one of them?

I really hope they find a way to bring him back..

Unfortunately, I think it will come down to money. I think the team wants him and he wants to stay in the bay area with his family, but they need to find a way to make him cost less. That said, the only options:

    a. Ronnie becomes player/coach to defer some of the salary from the League to the club.
    b. Ronnie takes a pay cut

Since Goose is definitely in front of him in line for the player/coach position, it may be tough to get it done.

The calendar omission may just be due to the fact that he is out of contract and not officially on the team for next year..

    Go Quakes!

Well once MLS starts signing P-40 players and the like for the upcoming SuperDraft we can speculate who the Quakes will take. Having 2 picks in the first round will be quite nice and even if Ekelund doesn't leave I will say it now and say it later, the Quakes should draft Ned Grabavoy (if he signs with MLS) with their first pick.

Ronnie told me that he refuses to have his picture taken because of his Amish background.

    Okay, here goes:

The cover boy...do you need to ask?

The twelve annoited ones: Agoos, Eddie Robinson, Todd Dunivant, Troy Dyak, Ramiro Corrales, Brian Mullan, Landon Donovan, Arturo Alvarez, Brian CHing, Pat Onstad, Richard Mulrooney, and Dwayne DeRosario.

Surprises: including Alvarez instead of Jamil Walker.

It must be some kind a secret scrawl! It's the new coach!

    :p

I hear Hott Toddy and Cowboy are in it!!! Once again, where the heck is mine?! Did it come via US mail? Cuz if not I may never get mine. We still have the wrong dang number painted on our curb.

There's a team calendar? Is it only for season ticket holders? I want one...:(

You mean there is actually a chance I will be cheering for the Quakes next year? It's too early to hold out hope, I think.

Don't worry, spej. You're covered. I think Ronnie was out of town when that picture was taken.

Please tell me they took new pictures and aren't using the official pics taken at the beginning of the season, especially for Landon. He looked like he was on drugs or just woke up or something.

Re: The Fate of Ronnie Eklund...The Writing is on the Wall

The cover letter said that I received the calendar as a gift for renewing season tickets for the 2004 Season prior to December 18th (not positive on the date).

    Nice job Quakes!

I think it's Steven Powell of the Quakes office, after looking at it a few times.
Came via US Mail. You'll probably get yours today.
December 12th. Which is interesting. The letter implies I renewed already, when in fact all I did was send in my deposit by the 11/28 deadline (and got my 2004 Season Ticket Holder scarf for doing that).

The confirmation letter for receipt of the deposits mentions that we'll be billed later and that the deadline is 1/23/04.

I'm guessing the 12/12 "deadline" was an extension of the 11/28 deposit deadline(?).

Yep, got our calendar, too...and had to grab it away from the kid, who was going to hang it in her room. The Mrs. immediately declared, "No, this has to go out here in the house somewhere."

We also sent in our deposit only...will be paying the balance in January. Every bit helps, though. $$ is $$ and it helps get contracts signed, as the letter said. Besides, I wanted to lock up my seats in the front row behind the goal, so I waste no time with these matters.

Johnny and Quakes, thank you for the wonderful Christmas card, calendar and letter expressing the team's appreciation of the fans' support. With such thoughtful actions off the field and world class play on the field, is it any wonder why we're all so crazy for this team?!?

    Goes double for me.

I usually get a soccer calendar every year for Christmas, and this one is the one I'd like this year.
