Has anyone gotten this year's Metro jersey yet?

While it's not ridiculously tight as last year's were, they are still definitely smaller than they should be. I tried on an XL, and while it's "bearable", it's definitely not as large as the USMNT jersey with the same size.

From what I understand the XXL's won't be around for quite a while.

The Onion Bag Soccer Shop actually had the XXLs in....but when I went none were available.....because they either sold them or had them on hold for someone....The guy I talked to said the XXLs were more like a normal XL....and the 3XL and 4XL's (which would be like 2XL and 3XL) were ordered, shoulda came in with the shipment they just recieved, but didnt. They have no idea when they would be in....sounds like Nike is rather unprofessional when it comes to this stuff...

Both the OB in North Bergen and Birkenmeier's in Hackensack have 'em.

I don't recall seeing the replicas at the home-opener.

The crazy thing is that in women's clothing, for the past decade clothing sizes have been shrinking in name (ie - size 6 girls wearing size 4, then size 2, now size 0 clothes) in order to make women feel better about themselves. Yet with these Nike shirts, a normal XL guy now has to add on a couple XXs?!? Wierd.

Are you sure they're not just trying to get rid of last-year's leftovers?

Well, my roommate ordered a Metros jersey from ****** in size XL. I have an XL from last year and he got the new resized ones. Believe me, it's a huge difference. While I don't think the XL is a true XL like all other Nike jerseys, it's definitely a lot bigger than last years. I'd say add an inch to inch and a half in terms of length and width from last year's and that's what you get.

Last years Nike Metros jersey was ummm.... snug. Supposedly Nike either remade the sizing of the jerseys, or they are just offering the same snug jersey in sizes up to 4XL ...

    Allegedly.......

The jersey design has a 2 year shelf life. This is pretty much standard for all home jerseys the world over. In MLS there is no need to change the away jersey every year as the blasted things aren't sold to the general public usually anyway.....

Does anyone know when our deal with Nike ends?

I'd love for the Metro to solicit contracts with other manufacturers, and for Addidas to offer a better deal than Nike, and for our uniforms to look good and be readily available for a change.

I remember going to a sports shop in Millburn last year and they had all the Addidas MLS team jerseys but no Metrostars gear. Truly sad.

As part of Nike's involvement with MLS, they get first choice of cities/teams. Thus Nike gets NY and LA. Chicago used to complete the Nike trifecta (not counting San Jose), however they somehow managed to switch to Puma, who have done a great job with the Fire's merchandise.

You mean the contracts are with the League as a whole, not with the individual teams? Interesting...I didn't know that. Still, there has to be a way to get us out of Nike's crap designs and service. I'd love to see what Addidas would produce for us if they had a chance.

As far as I'm aware, almost all contracts are done thru the league, and then allocated to the individual teams. Wether it be players, jerseys, or kit sponsors..... I could be wrong, but I haven't thus far seen evidence to prove otherwise....

So has anyone purchased the "new" metrostars jerseys in size XL or XXL ? Care to verify that the sizing issue has been fixed?
