Haven't seen it up yet, so here goes.....

Debate the Williams sisters ending up on opposite halves of the bracket for the second straight major since Venus fell from #2 (should tennis move to a balanced bracket based on seeds, like most sports have?)

Who will make the finals (gentlemen's/ladies')?

    Any other rants/raves/opinions you have.

    I think:
    Men's final:
    Andy Roddick v. Andre Agassi

    Women's Final:
    Serena Williams v. Kim Clijsters

    Some Odds:
Serena Williams is 4/6, Venus is 7/2, Kim Clijsters is 5/1 and Justine Henin-Hardenne is 6/1. Mens: Andy Roddick 4/1, Leyton Hewitt 4/1, Andre Agassi 5/1 and Tim Henman 9/1.

Did anyone see this match, or at least the highlights? Karlovic is huge. I mean H-U-G-E.

    Oh, you know what I M-E-A-N-T. :D

Yeah, he's just tall, but when they shook hands at the end of the match, Hewitt looked downright dwarfish.

    I saw that.
Amazing. And Hewitt's a six footer.
He had never won a game at a major tournament before this considerable scalp.
Saw some of the 'hawk-eye' shots of the trajectory of the balls and it's a wonder Hewitt managed to get send the balls back as often as he did. Indeed, given yesterday's performance, it's strange that this guy hasn't been more successful. Maybe he just had one of those 'good' days.

I saw it. After Karlovic won the tie-break he controlled the rest of the match.

    DAY 2 OF WIMBLEDON:
A couple of suprises, Raemon Sluiter beating Yevgeny Kafelnikov(20)in 5 sets, Guillermo Corria(7)being defeated in straight sets by a guy called Rachous and Xavier Mallise(14)(last years semi-finalist)being defeated by C. Saulnier. Serena Williams, Jennifer Capriati, Justin Henin-Hardenne, Tim Henman and Andre Agassi all through.

Is that Olivier Rochus, if so then he's a name that crops up at Wimbledon. Little chap, but quick.
Is this Corria guy known as a clay court player primarily?
    Grass funks it all up.

Roddick leads 2 sets to 0, but what a close match! No breaks, and only 2 break points!(both in second set; 1 for Roddick and 1 for Rusedski)Score:7-6(7-4)7-6(7-1)

Roddick has won 3 sets to 0. Score:7-6(7-4),7-6(7-1),7-5. A three set victory does not do justice to an excellent match. The third set was very controversial though. Rusedski was 5-2 up when someone in the crowd shouted Rusedski's return out when it was in. The referee prompetly awarded the point to Roddick, which won him the game. Rusedski was very upset and started giving out to the ref, in an outburst which is expected to earn him a fine of 10 or 20 million pounds. Roddick won 5 games in a row then to win the set 7-5, which gave him the match.

    Wa...? That's quite a fine.
I'd take a spell in prison instead frankly.

    It was?

What's his standing with the general public down there?
Personally I've not got too much against him other than the out-bursts on the court and his damn monotonous voice.

It's improved, but he is pretty much seen as a whiny brat. The borderline racist/disabilist (is that a word) comments didn't go down well.

Also the older folk (those over 20) see him as "too American" - ie. cap on backwards, saying "yo" and "come on" all the time.

Has a hard act to follow in Pat Rafter who everybody loves - I think he won Australian of the Year one year.

Does he make that much in a year? Even Beckham makes "only" 12 million pounds a year? Rusedski's going to have to get a second job to pay off the fine.

Well officially he's got a $2500 fine from the Wimbledon powers that be.
Not a lot you might think, but it's $500 more than the previous high. The maximum fine is $10,000.
Plenty of uproar from the typically British middle class, middle age Daily Mail crowd.
Out-cries for the maximum to be imposed. What's the point? $10k is going to make almost as little impact on his account as $2.5k is.

Superbrat has voiced his opinions that the fine is too low - but for the reason above, I can't see the point in fining him any more than he has been.

In other news, Henman goes through in straight sets.
    Agassi progresses too.

I know, I know, I'm just kidding. Though it would be funny if Wimbledon actually handed out a $20 million fine.

    is GONE
anyone really think Henman has a chance?
The hype in England is too much to bear, though so far he's getting rather easy opponents and he might have an outside chance. really though, he's destined to choke eventually.

I think Roddick will win the men's. The women's title is a bit more open than in the past couple years but come on it's gonna be Serena.
