    These are my pets, I love supporter's scarves...

    I will take suggestions here. Not to say I'll use them all, but I'm kicking around ideas now to send to the other supporters, and I don't want to leave all of you in the dark before the final design. I already want to include the USOC trophy and american flag to it.

    you didn't have to live through a season long pain in the ass of trying to get anyone to sell them.

    Zak, you should have made it a package deal with the vouchers for tickets... it could be like, buy 2 tickets and get a 2 scarvesfor $25 or 1 ticket and a $15 scarf.

    I made a simple design for a scarf last night... I'll try to get it posted as soon as possible.

    Hey Zak, I can't get my webpage to work... access problems. I was wondering if you could put some of my ideas on your webpage, and then just link the pics onto the thread... would that be possible? Send me a PM. Thanks

    Ok, I got things to work finally... here are a couple of basic ideas that I came up with. Feel free to make suggestions for modifications. I think something like this would be a good starting point for a new scarf design.

    I like both of them honestly but prefer the one on the bottom. If you replaced the USOC logo with the trophy would you save money by not adding the extra colors?

    My opinion is to use both designs (two sided). The bottom ones i would lose one of the logos on each end. Make it the crew logo on the right & the left to have the cup logo. Also to help save money , like the last person said, why not make the cup logo out of the crew colors

    Blue = Black
    Red = Yellow

    thats an outsiders opinion

    ps when the final version is decide please post it and where you can get it

    all this talk about logos, and US Soccer logos make sure we have permission (written would be best) of all companies of logos we're using. I seriously doubt we can change colors of logos.

    I wonder if we could use the Copperplate Gothic (crew) font for the 2002 US Open Cup Champions part as well.

    Keep it simple.

    And is that the Dewar (original) Cup pictured? Cause I don't think it's the one that's in the trophy case.

    I couldn't find a picture of the crystal trophy, just that one, which I stole from a Fire picture... I just know some people wanted the red white and blue on it, and I thought if you could get the trophy on it, that it would be cool too. But you definately are adding cost when you go double sided, but I think it would be very cool.

    Personally I think any text on any new scarves we get should be horizontal like in kaiser's first design. Otherwise when there are 15 or 20 of us holing them up at games it looks a bit strange. Thats just my opinion.

    I'll be brief.

    You can't use anything that is copyrighted. That includes Columbus and Crew on the same item, the logo, probably includes Open and Cup or Lamar Hunt Open Cup, any likeness of the trophy. Essentially if this is going to happen you have to be very general.

    None of us, including Columbus Crew, knew that we'd have problems with just the words columbus and crew on the same item. No one knew that, well until we got our box nicked.

    The bottom line is this, I know people want something in the form of a scarf that celebrates the open cup victory. My suggestion at this point is that if we find out at the first game that Crew didn't do anything with the open cup, we start a petition or something, go to them with like 1000 signatures to show that demand is there, then let them take care of it. I know that process seems a bit contrived, but given the copyright situation, it's a titanic risk to take, especially since you're not only going to have to get permission from Crew, but also USSF.

    Don't mean to rain on anyones parade.

    If somebody actually cared enough to do it, I don't see why an individual couldn't secure permission from both of those groups to create and locally distribute some scarves.

    I imagine it won't take any longer than getting a pettition together, getting it to the office w/ some suggested designs, waiting for them to get to that folder of papers, make a decision, etc. etc. etc.

    The other thing would be to just give them a call and see what THEY suggest. Do they have a dept. concerned w/ merchandising? Is it attached to PR or something? I have no idea of the office internals, but I don't see why you can't get something worked out.

    It's more than just a paper permission slip, I would think. The liscencing rights also have some serious money issues involved I would guess.

    we discussed merchandise with a member of the Crew a while back, and unsuprisingly most teams in MLS signed horrible licensing deals, this is why items are so hard to come by. IIRC, Crew has very little to do with what actually is produced, I think it's the manufactures themselves that decide what to do and what not to do. Either way, if you want to get an Open Cup scarf done you're probably going to have to get permission from Crew, MLS, and USSF. That would probably take a few months.

    Or you could get them made by that guy in St. Louis? who did our V-army scarves. Put whatever you want on them I imagine since there are no customs to pass through. But they'll cost you 30$ a pop. Although it may be worth it for some of us. I'd buy one.

    How large of an order did you guys place on the V-Army scarves? Does this guy have a website or something to that nature? I know it isn't exactly kosher, but its an avenue worth looking down.
