DC take Alecko with the first pick.
Metro take Ricardo Clark, making 3 d-mids on the team, plus Balboa (possibly).

Hopefully he won't be the next Steve Shak.

Everyone says Clark can play, guess we'll see now.

20 some odd picks and counting until selection # 2.

    Bio is here:

    http://metrostars.com/metronews/superdraft_pool.htm#Clark

    Ricardo Clark
    Position: Midfielder
    College: Furman University (Project 40)
    Ht: 5-10
    Wt: 140
    Hometown: Jonesboro, GA
    Born: February 10,1983

    - Member of the youth national team since 1999 and currently is a starting midfielder on the U-20 National squad.
    - In 2002, named first team All-America honors and first team NSCAA and College Soccer News All-American
    - Named to the 2002 All-Southern Conference first team and the NSCAA All-South Region first team.
    - As a member of the U-20 National Team, started in 11 of the team’s first 13 internationals

Our Next picks are # 30 (la's pick, # 10 in third round) and # 32 (second pick in fourth round). I don't expect much to be left at that point.

    Ricardo Clark!

Yes, well done Metros. Too bad we traded our #5 pick for Ankle Biter. Maybe we can still unload him for pick.

And Clark won't be comparable to Shak. Clark was the consensus #2 pick and definite top 5 pick. Shak was a consensus 2nd or 3rd rounder, not even 1st round and definitely not #1 overall. Garcia was the consensus pick that year.

Metros trade for the #4 pick.

    And take Mike Magee!

We now have depth at forward.

Player to Dallas to be named later.

    Hopefully Ritchie Williams.

Metros trade Brad Davis  to Dallas for 4th pick and take Mike Magee, a player Bradley really wanted.

    Mike Magee
    Position: Forward
    College: NA – Project 40
    Ht: 5-9
    Wt: 150
    Hometown: Long Grove, IL
    Born: September 2, 1984

    - As an 18-year old, led the U.S. Under-20s with 14 goals in 2002
    - In 2002 following tryouts with Ajax (Holland) and Viking (Norway) he frequently trained with Chicago Fire
    - Scored four times in a 5-2 win over Ukraine to put the U.S. into the semifinals of the C.O.T.I.F. Torneig Internacional in Spain

Holy crap man. Brad Davis is gone?!

There have to be some more moves coming, so let's reserve judgement...

Otherwise, this is akin to trading Brad Davis for Richie Williams, isn't it????! we could have probably gotten Magee with the 5th pick...

Oh no! The player turns out to be Brad Davis.

What the hell?!?!?!?! I was hoping Davis would turn into a great Left Wing under Bradley's care.

Now we have no left or right wings in midfield.

    There must be more coming.

Should have just kept the 2nd and 5th picks and davis now that it plays out unless we dump Balboa and r Williams for another 1st round pick. I don't get it.

I liked Davis! But on the bright side he graduated out of P40 and was a player that counted. Sorry to see him go...

The Pope/Moreno deal might have not happened had we taken Ankle Biter for a first round pick. I think D.C. was trying to unload.

davis was my favorite player...these new guys better be hella likeable..i hated seeing jerkoffs like serna looking all pissed off and not even smiling just because some1else scored. i kno being enthusiastic like davis doesnt mean a player will help the team..but those are the kinds of players that make the game more enjoyable.

Brad Davis was good, just a rookie last year, and was a high pick then... I don't understand why they gave up on a young creative left footer who is a staple of the U-23 team.

He did have injuries though, maybe they thought he wasn't going to play that much? Very odd.

How come according to MLSnet.com and MetroStars.com, the Crew have spent 10+ minutes without picking a player?

I just noticed, Mike Walsh is among the players that can be drafted. Isn't this Billy's brother?

I like the idea of MacGee. We need a goalscorer. We also had to trade something GREAT away to get that #4 pick.

Was it really Davis straight up for the pick??? How can we trade a promising 20 year old who already showed he can play at this level for a promising 17 year old. If Magee is as good as Davis in 3 years, that would be a very good thing. It must have to do with the P-40 comment someone already made. Salary caps can lead to some bizarre decisions.

I agree Davis looked promising. Maybe Bradley knew something we don't. I have a feeling he's not done trading bodies for picks.

There are still so many questions to answer on this team now. The way I see it we have this so far

    ------------Howard----------------
    Jolley---Balboa------Pope----Akwari
    Unknow---Clark----Unknown---Unknown
    ------Moreno----------Mathis---------

    Bench:
    Addo
    Magee
    Grafer
    Ziadie

    Trade bait:

    Andy Williams
    Richie Williams
    Mark Lisi
    Ross Paule
    Jeff Moore

What do you guys think will happen?

    Metros-Gaven

Metros get Eddie Gaven with the #12 pick. How we got the 12th pick, I have no idea.

    SLAMFREAKINDUNK!

#1 Ricardo Clark - is our future Chris Armas. Will he push RW or will RW push him?

#2 Mike Magee - is 5 years younger than Brad Davis - quicker and a little more detail. Younger though so he needs to mature - but Bradley has had plenty of looks and if he traded up to get him - I think he's fairly confident the kids got the goods.

#3 Eddie Gaven - he smells like a Bobby Convey type. Memo Gonzalez and Magee and Eski are getting all the ink just like Donovan and Beasley did in their class. Gaven just turned 16 - and his biggest problem is that he's equally talented in midfield as he is up top as a striker. Bob should know how to harness this horse.

Not knowing more - I know that neither of these guys costs us a spot on the roster - which we can now fill out via waivers when teams start to settle on their picks etc.

Very good draft for the Metros so far.

    12. LA (from DAL, MET): MetroStars select Eddie Gaven, M Project 40 (The MetroStars obtained the 12th overall selection for the Galaxy’s natural First-Round pick in 2004)

We solved one of our problems.
