    hey uh spankies,

according to bergen record, several teams are in talks/interested to play at giants stadium.

your boy zoffinger said contracts are finalized for manU, juventus and barcelona to come to giants stadium next summer.

also in the works is for argentina to play either england or portugal

brasil is said to be interested in coming to jersey to play vs u.s. i know this one was reported a couple hundred times.

italy is also listening to the authority about possibly playing here.

and last but not least, ecuador is slated to make its yearly appearance at the stadium.

''We still have to find dates that best fit everyone's schedules, because we want these teams here only at times when they will have their best players available,'' said Zoffinger.

by the way, the reporter (john brennan) fucqed up on how the A.C. Milan-Real Madrid game drew 70,000 over the summer. we all know it was roma, and not milan.

even if half of them came, it would be cool to see these teams in action.

thoughts from optimists, pessimists, crybabies on the latest news?

    Just to clarify...

Are you the reporter from Bergen Record, or are you just posting his link?

I'm sure all those team would love to risk their stars players on an artificial surface.

Once again I have to disgree with this. Why should the Metros consistently play top clubs who will field their second string players? Why not choose a club that we can actually hang with if we both field our starters? Just because the club isn't a HUGE fan favorite doesn't mean that it won't be a great game to go to. Some examples of this would be Metros vs. Lecce, Hertha Berlin, Athletic Bilbao, and Fulham. We would at least stand a chance (I think) of winning these competitive matches. If Metros play MAN U, Arsenal, Lazio, etc. with those teams playing every regualr starter, we would get trounced.

It didn't say that they were coming here to play the Metros. If Zoffinger is putting this on, they will play each otehr because Juve playing Barcelona is a much larger draw than Juve playing Metros, and Zoffinger wants the big draw.

Yes, you did make a good point. The game vs Bayern two years ago that we won was fun and we could brag (for a short time) about beating them, but how many players from the Champions League victory played? The thing is though that Zoffinger is in it for the money. As soon as he brings over Juve v Man U and he doesn't sell it out, is when he stops promoting soccer at Giants Stadium. Now, if they did a double header of two big teams against each other and then a Metro v some mid-level team in a league, that would both fill the stadium and could boost Metro support if they truly hold their own against the normal starters.

I love this idea. Though i am Metro first, the First stringers on these teams would probably beat us too.
