Anyone register a BS league yet? I presume it might be necessary to establish more than one. BigSoccer East ... BS West .. South... etc.?
Well, I can always dump it later, I suppose, but I've created the division: BigSoccer Northeast password: bigsoccer See you around.
From the Commish Guys: Yes, we've launched. And we're really excited to offer improved prizes, new formations, trade limitations, a new design, etc. Vw, if you had an issue with your prize last year, please email me (ebarmack@sportingnews.com) so that I can look into it. (Whatever the issue was, we will not have it again this year.) We think we've made a great product that forces you to take young players as well as savvy vets. Please send any feedback that you might have to me. But again, your participation in games like this will be crucial for the MLS! So sign up now. -ESB (ebarmack@sportingnews.com)
ive created BIG SOCCER SOUTH password - bigsoccer everybody welcome from alabama, georgia, mississippi, florida, the carolinas, texas, oklahoma, arkansas, tennessee, kentucky, virginia & mexico for that matter - good luck, should be fun - i finished 20-somethingth overall last year and did receive my prize
Re: From the Commish I know you want it for marketing purposes, but you ask for way too much info. Why do people haveto give their street address if they don't want to. If you need to send people a prize, they can give it when that time comes. And I like how the script refers the defaults to "Yes, send me information" whenever you have to go back because of a taken user name or a field you missed. Otherwise, I like the format at first glance.
BigSoccer Midwest password: bigsoccer Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa
just seemed like a good idea - wasnt tryin to be ethnocentric or anything - im not actually from the south, just live there - plus i dont really have a 'proper' MLS team (until st. louis gets one probably) - i kinda like a few teams (2 being the fire and the burn - a good example that i havent truly chosen a team) - my only real club team is AJAX - besides its better to have people who root for different teams anyway
Gang: A few pieces of advice on strategy: 1) player prices will change daily based on buys and sells; so if you buy young players who end up doing well, you will end up "making money," and can then "upgrade" to better players. 2) HOWEVER, you still have to score points. And very few teams can make it taking flyers at every position. The teams that did well last year took a few experienced players who were guaranteed to score points, and a few, selective young players named Twellman and Ruiz ... 3) Defenders, in general, don't score nearly as much in this game as the other positions. For that reason, we've priced them down, and you may have all-stars back there, but it's hard to "win the game" with a solid back-line. 4) Like you guys, I'm taking risks on emerging players like Convey, Mapp and Martino. However, it's very difficult to win taking all players on the same team. If you're taking Kovalenko, Olsen, Stewart and Convey -- no matter how much you bleed red and black, you simply won't get it done. There's just not enough points to go around. That's it. We've priced players so that you can take a few stars, a few rookies, and then fill out your team with a combo of vets, role players, etc. We've worked hard on this game. And in playing this game, you're helping support and build MLS. Good luck, -ESB GM/TSN
This is going to be my first year playing in a fantasy league, I think it will be a lot of fun. Is any one going to make a westcoast division? I probably wouldn't move from my division because if I went to a Bigsoccer division i'd figure everyone is pretty knowledgeble.
Gang: We're psyched about the new design of the game. But we could always use feedback. Please feel free to email me with thoughts (ebarmack@sportingnews.com), or post them here. I'm particularly interested in hearing what you think about the game's new features. -ESB
It looks pretty darn cool and is easy to use. Nice to see it set up weeks in adavnce rathewr than after the season started, which is when I think it went to effect last year.
So why no Zizi in the game? Is it because MLSnet.com has yet to add him to the official Rapids roster?
Re: From the Commish Can you explain what exactly the trade limitations are? My major complaint with the Sporting News fantasy league was/is: You can change your roster daily if you buy enough transfers. The roster is not locked in for the full week. So someone with a lot of time and a lot of money can change their roster every day and have the maximum number of players playing each day. Granted, you still would have to do this within the limitations of changing player values. Please explain how this game doesn't favor those who spend lots of money on trades. I am sensitive to this strategy because I have seen it in the past.
Sure -- We've placed a maximum limitation of 75 trades that you can purchase. That means, on a weekly basis, you can't swap out your entire team and replace it, which was a limitation last season. And yes, you'll still need to buy some trades to get into the upper echelon of users, but you can't simply buy your way to victory. In short, we've tried to reduce this part of the game. -ESB
What about Rosas? IS he on the books in MLS yet? Have created a division: Division : SoccerAmerica Password : sag Bring it
what happens if you want to delete a team or move it to another division? Do you have to make an exact replica of that team in the other division? If I want to change the name of the team or delete it altogether, how do I go about doing that? Sorry for the questions. First time playing in this format and couldn't find the answers on the site.
