FC Champions Cup How come the Cup seems to last forever each season...Last season for MLS teams it was March-August, matches are spread out everywhere...It really should be a 2-4 month Cup/League...Why not run it from January-April or Jan-March, whatever...but give us some set dates (hahahaha, concacaf, set dates) so the cup actually becomes something, people start to know when its played, and what teams qualify, etc...
Re: FC Champions Cup Not all Leagues play at the same times of year, so making such an intensive schedule would surely screw up the schedules of several domestic leagues. Continental cups are designed to spread out the games as much as possible so that the leagues are minimally affected. And overall, there's no reason to think that spreading out the matches is necessarily a bad thing. In fact, the ECL is played every month of the year except June.
FC Champions Cup (mex teams?) does anyone know when will we know the 4 Mexican entrants into the FC Champions Cup? Isn't the tournament supposed to start this month. Does anyone know the dates and/or venues? Thanks!
No, I meant Toluca, Morelia, Pumas and Santos. America got stomped in the quarter finals by Santos and Necaxa didn't even make it to the play offs.
Then my mistake. I thought awhile back someone posted that the Mexican teams in the Cup would be the finalists from last summer, and the finalists from the Apertura. I can't remember correctly, but I also thought none of the teams I mentioned are involved with the Libertadores this year. Thus, their schedules are somewhat less congested. But of course neither MLS nor MFL or other clubs take the tourney seriously anyways.
I'm sure that Club America will be in the tournament. This Dec. 26 Article (http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/360/sports/Revolution_will_be_tested_early+.shtml) said the only teams that are assured spots in the Champions Cup are Toluca(winning the Apertura Cup) and Club America(Points leader in Apertura). I think Morelia will be in the tournament as well for making it to the final(though nothing official has come out). What about CF La Piedad they won the summer season Verano 2002, they could be in it as well. However, they are in the Premira A now. guesses). I think Pumas UNAM is in the Libertadores this year.
FC Champions Cup (mex teams?) If Morelia qualifies, the other team probably would be Necaxa. La Piedad moved to, I don't remember well, but they are Jaguares (Chiapas) or Gallos Blanco (Queretaro).

CONCACA's Chump-ions Cup draw Not that it matters but... (in spanish) http://www.el-universal.com.mx/pls/impreso/noticia.html?id_nota=118582&tabla=notas America Vs Fas Toluca Vs W Connection Necaxa Vs Arnett Gardens Morelia Vs Comunicaciones LA Galaxy Vs Motagua NE Revolution Vs Alajuelense SJ Earthquakes Vs Municipal Columbus Crew Vs Arabe Unido
I notice that the MLS teams are grouped with basically easy teams and teams such as W Connection and Arnette Gardens are grouped with very tough teams from Mexico. Very sticky I must say. I think money's involved here...
2003 CONCACAF Champions Cup Draw That's funny because I would have said that it looks like the Mexican teams got grouped with basically easy teams such as W Connection and Arnette Gardens, and MLS teams got grouped with very tough teams like Municipal and Alajuelense.
Re: 2003 CONCACAF Champions Cup Draw Hey the Cremas can take out Moncrapas. I don't think the other squads can take out the Mexican Giants. There should be some good match-ups in the Quarters. Looking for CA vs. the Quakes.
Champions Cup question 2 games, 90 minutes each. Do results of individual games matter, or just the total tally after 2 games? Like if game 2 ends in a draw, but aggregate is not even, i'm assuming the series ends.. ------------- If game 2 ends with aggregate goals even, do road goals count double or do they go to OT? Would OT be golden goal or full 30? searched several websites, but no answers anywhere.
If it is like last year away goals do not count double. I'm not a 100% but I think if the goal scores are tied up after the second leg they go straight to pk's.
Club America home games in the US for Champions Cup Not official yet, but Club America wrote a letter to TFC HQs and asked if they can host thier home match in Dallas, Texas.
All this really makes me wonder if there won't be some sort of MLS-MFL merger down the road. The FMF really seems to like the US market.
