Most of the NSCAA's All Region teams are out. Well, actually all of them are out, I just couldn't find two of them. Anyway, the way the NSCAA works, if you don't make All Region, you can't be All American. So, this is a good idea of who has a chance to be AA. There are eight regions but I couldn't find listings for the New York and New England regional teams. I cut and pasted them from different school's releases so the format will be a little different for each region. IU's Jay Nolly not making any of the three Great Lakes Regional teams is a joke. Sawyer at Notre Dame had a great year too, but I don't see how Wiese or Hanson got the nod ahead of Jay. IMHO, Nolly should be the FIRST TEAM GK. What a shame that the NSCAA coaches in the Great Lakes region are fools. Jay has worked his butt off at Indiana and is a big reason why the Hoosiers are playing Friday. Hopefully, IU can shock the college soccer world this weekend with two victories and everyone will see that Jay Nolly should be not only All-Region, but an All-American. Just in case someone says I didn't do my homework, here are the stats for the three who made All-Region, plus Jay's stats: Sawyer (ND) 23 g, 16 GA, 0.67 GAA, 12 SHO (only 1 here who might measure up to Nolly) Wiese (OU) 21 g, 17 GA, 0.79 GAA, 5 SHO (and this vs. a mediocre schedule) Hanson (UW) 20 g, 25 GA, 1.25 GAA, 8 SHO (on a team that lost 10 games) Nolly (IU) 23 g, 16 GA, 0.65 GAA, 10 SHO (played every minute this season) GO HOOSIERS!
Not to mention that Nolly was ELIGIBLE to play. To add insult to injury, Louisville's Adrian Cann was selected to Great Lakes 2nd team, and he'd been ruled INELIGIBLE after midway through the season for competing the in Canadian league over the summer.
Alej- The NCAA D3 Women's All-Americans were listed on nscaa.com as of this morning, so I would imagine the men are soon to follow. It seems as if the men's lists for all divisions plus juco take a day or two longer to compile.
Uhhhh, I can't imagine that the NSCAA would publish the All-American teams before they make the All-Region teams public. I could be wrong, but it makes sense that the All-Region teams would come out before or at the same time. Check this link to see what's been put online: http://www.nscaa.com/scripts/runisa.dll?m2:gp::14028+awards/2003 I can tell you as I'm posting this that nothing is up yet, but this is the page to check. I say nothing, and that includes the D3 Women's All-America teams that are listed on the nscaa.com front page. So, they may not be totally up to speed on everything and it may take them some time to get everything posted. If you're interested in D3, I am going to assume you live near a D3 institution or support one. Maybe you could check their site or call their AD to find out what's up.
