Riverhounds did a great job, Most of the games are on weekends.

Vancouvers schedule is absolutely horrible. Too many games bunched up together, such as 6 in 12 nights, back to back matches in Calgary, except the second match is apparently going to be played in Saskatchewan (so much for a regional schedule if you have to travel two time zones over to play one of the games).

Whoever came up with Vancouver schedule should be strung up.

Not to mention that Vancouver hosts Portland on Sunday night twice and once on a Tuesday. Makes it impossible for working fans to travel. Portland is just as stupid scheduling Vancouver three times on Thursday night. These games should be played on Saturdays if they really wanted to develop a rivalry that attracts fans.

Well I guess one thing is that those who want to come up to Vancouver for the Sunday night games could possibly try to take the Monday off of work. It's more difficult for Vancouver fans to get down for a Thursday Night games as they'd need at least 2 days off work.

You are right though. These games (Vancouver-Seattle-Portland) should be played on Saturdays, and it seems the people putting together the schedules have no consideration for travelling fans. I have been hearing complaints from fans all over the league (for instance it seems that Toronto fans won't be able to travel to Rochester because Rochester-Toronto matches are not on Saturday, same for Toronto-Montreal apparently).

The league needs all the travelling fans it can get, yet doesn't seem to care about that when schedules are made.

I think the Riverhounds actully did a good job.

We play Rochester twice on the road both on Saturdays. We play Toronto on a Saturday and Sunday and play Cinncinati on a Sunday. All of those are probably gonna be road trips.

And while our weekday morning game is once again against Charleston, this time it's an exhibtion against the new Charleston PDL team from West Virginia, not the A-League guys from South Carolina. That's a vast improvement.

Of course, you have to click here

    http://www.riverhounds.com/schedule/index.htm

or cut out the one in yesterday's Post-Gazette to learn that.

I am sure the league would say they are saving money. It just goes to show you they do what they want and not what the fans want and yet they want the fans to back them. Like you said all games that are played between the NW cities should allways be on Saturday's all the rest can be anyday of the week. The league needs to get there head out of their a**.

Yeah, it sucks that two of the three of our games at PGE are on non-weekends (e.g. Mon and Thurs). Will make it very difficult for more than a handful of away support to make it there :(

The games at Vancouver are a little better (two Friday night and one Sunday night IIRC), but because of the border crossing on Fridays will make it tough to get a large group up there (those who don't have flex time at work). Hopefully we can get a bus together for the Sunday night one...

Also remember the Whitecaps have moved kickoff times up to 7pm from 7.30 pm, making it harder for vistors to get there by kickoff.

    Re: mutts..

Of course you are. Rhinos always get preferential treatment. Imagine what would happen if the Rhinos were treated the same as the rest of the league.

    Who's responsible?

For the most part, the teams have been responsible for their own schedules - not the league front office. In the past, the USL has given the teams their list of opponents and the individual teams have met to set up the dates.

The one league factor that would effect the dates would be the FSW coverage. For teams wanting to participate in the schedule, I'd guess they would have to make some concessions to fit certain time windows.

So don't go blaming the league - ask your own team management why they schedule regional rivalries (like Seattle & Vancouver) at times that don't allow for travel. :(

    Re: Who's responsible?

I find it really hard to believe the managment in Vancouver, Seattle and Portland would be this stupid. So I will go blaming the league! You tell me why management would be so stupid and do this. After all are they not in it to make money? You are saying the league has no say? BS.

    Re: 3rd post

Good question. We have only one player signed and a team website which is really Bob Lenarduzzis pro wave soccer school site wit ha few Whitecaps tidbits on it (and a photo of the stadium stolen from my web site).

Which is why everyone should go to my site instead!

Good News K-Head, come spring, Saskatchewan is only one time zone ahead, so the travel will be much easier :)

Sucks, I guess for the 'Caps, but as a long time 'Caps fan going way, way back, I am thrilled for the chance to see them in my town. Tell Alan Douglas to make sure someone packs up a few jersery's to sell would ya?

    Regards.

Well, we all know that the last thing in the world Alan Douglas would want to do is converse with me. On the jersey note, they didn't even have any for the home fans to buy at the end of last season, we'll have to wait and see what the stock situation is for the upcoming season.

The League only provides who plays who, teams are then left to arrange their own schedule. This is straight from the mouth of Kickers Head Coach, Leigh Cowlishaw. So you do need to ask your own management why they arrange such crappy fixture dates.
