I have read on this messageboard (and in the news) about the new 200 Rand notes, and the fact that many businesses are still not accepting them (if if they are obliged by law to do so), for fear of getting counterfeits. I have also read that the old 200 Rand notes are no longer valid. I have a good friend here in the States who used to live in South Africa who has a bunch of Rand. I was going to buy his excess Rand, as he has no use for them anymore. (This way we both benefit -- we exchange commission-free.) Can I go to a Bank in South Africa after I arrive on Monday and convert old 200 Rand notes? Or should I not buy these?
