Tonight I was watching TV at Steve_R's house and we were watching some sports show on New England Sports Net. This guy was talking about the Bruins I believe, and there was this graphic on the screen that had pictures of New England athletes flashing. I noticed that they had a Red Sox player, a Bruins player, a Celtics player, and a Patriots player. But what concerns me is that they didn't have any Revolution players up on that wonderful graphic. That really annoyed me.

Another thing that annoyed me happened about 30 seconds after that. I was looking at the sports section of what I think was the Boston Globe, and there was a picture of 3 Patriot fans at a game. The caption under the picture said "Patriots fans celebrated the OPENING OF GILLETTE STADIUM with a Patriot's victory over (some team that I can't remember). Now I was under the impression that Gillette Stadium opened at the beginning of the soccer season, and that we didn't all just jump over the fences and beat up security guards to watch the games (though I'm never the first one at the game, so I don't know if people do that and then open the gates for us).

Maybe it's just me, but I find it very aggrivating that soccer doesn't get much (if any) recognition. Especially the Revs, since they are the Eastern Division Champions. Is there anyone else that feels the same way that I do?

Instead of venting to us, contact the network and let them know how you feel..... then call all of your friends and make them do it as well. Until these people know that the soccer fan base out there is large enough to make a difference in viewership, they are going to continue to ignore us.

Wait a minute. Are you saying that the media slight soccer in favor of sports that are vastly more popular?

    Egad.

Maybe he's saying that other sports are vastly more popular because of the exposure the media gives them while slighting soccer.

did it bother you that there were no breakers players shown as well? how about the boston cannons (lacrosse)? if it didn't cross your mind, then the bias these guys are showing against the revs is the same one you're showing to the breakers and the cannons....so what's the diff? someone is making a decision on where the line is to be drawn and you may be too.

regardless, we've all seen and felt this. as stated before...write or call someone at that level. they do listen at times. the revs are slowly making in-roads. it'll happen eventually. but, only if people tell these people at the media that they want to see it and read about it.

Well there is a difference between the Revolution and the Breakers and Cannons. The Revolution are more popular than they are. Plus the Revs almost became the MLS Champions. I think they should at least have had a shot of Twellman.

of course i agree that the revs should have been represented.....but you're just proving my point further with your statement. the b's, c's, sox, and pats are vastly and undisputedly more popular than the revs so someone drew the line there. to a great majority of people in this area, revs winning mls cup would be hardly more newsworthy than the harvard women's hockey team winning the "frozen four".

To the media, it's like the Gubernatorial debates. Do you invite the "major" candidates who have a realistic chance, or stay completely non-partisan by inviting EVERY eligible candidate.

If you are looking for a clear defining point, there's still a big four in Boston/NE and the biggest gap is between them and everyone else.

If you want to include EVERYONE, be prepared to share the stage with the Worcestor Wildcats, the Pawsox, Providence Bruins, etc., etc., etc.
