    Fire game 3/02/03?

Is there a game vs. Dallas today. I thought on the Fire insiders they had us playing Dallas today. Does anyone know, if so how did we do.

Worth noting it was only a 70 minute match.

Still nowhere near our A lineup I think, but that's neither here nor there.

I still maintain Andy Williams will not see a Fire jersey in competitive play, but he'll probably be signed now just to spite me :) Blah.

Just out of curiosity, has Zach played at all during the pre-season? It seems like Henry Ring is always between the pipes.

If that's meant to imply the Burn were trying harder or playing more first team players, you might want to review the lineups posted by Hala.

did you even read what i wrote?

i said we substituted pretty much the whole team at the half

and the burn kept pretty much the same lineup the whole game

what implication is there from that as to first team anything... is that just your natural inferiority complex at work? or did you develop that for kicks?

Jeez, hole yer water. It's just a preseason game.

Here's what I'm taking from this game:

    1. Obviously, Andy Williams in camp is interesting, even if just to spite Liam.
    2. Leighton O'Brien *still* in camp. Dave seems to be looking for a central attacking midfielder that's NOT Beasley, at least for the moment.
    3. With the exception of the late-game brainfart on the free kick (geez, where have we seen *that* before), it sounds like the defensive core was pretty solid. To be fair, Dombrowski and Walls were on at the time (with Spiteri in goal, to boot), so I'm not going to get that worried about it.
    4. No goals for Damani. No goals for anyone, yeah, but he was on a bit of preseason tear before the break. Woly had a good chance off of a corner, but no info on who took it.
    5. Pause and Marsch played together for the first half, and no goals scored against. We may want to get used to that for when the national team is playing.
    6. Still no Faria. While I know there's more than just this pervasive Carnaval talk, it still would be nice to see him.

Well, I think that's reasonable. I'm not of the opinion that Beasley is ever going to be an attacking central midfielder. Maybe someday he could play an Armas type position, but he doesn't seem to have ever been asked to do it.

Obviously, it's never good to lose to a team wearing shirts that say "Dallas", but under the circumstances, with an awful lot of players that will either have very limited time if they even manage to make the roster, it's not terrible. It's also why these games don't count in the cup standings.

And i'm going to get to the bottom of this AW situation today.

  19. Who are these Spiteri and Walls guys

We didn't draft them so are they just on trial or is there any information about them other than names

Walls is Nick Walls...played at SLU. From Milwaukee.

They are undrafted free agents on trial, same as the NFL and NBA do their undrafted free agent system.

  21. Spiteri was a Univ. Of Portland teammate of Nate Jaqua. He was an alternate for the 2001 U-20 Nats behind D.J. Countess and Doug Warren.
