I thought that Mondragon would be a terrible idea because of his age (because in my mind I already think about the WC), but as long he plays well at the moment (and for me he is the best GK in the league today) then we should invite him as a substitute keeper to Ospina. When his form will start to drop, then we'll have Ramos, Bonilla & Vargas.

Mondragon to me is slightly better than Vargas but Vargas is 18 years younger. I make Vargas #2 and Mondragon #3. Mondragon could help them during practice and when he retires he can join the coaching staff. I see Mondragon as the Veteran we need on the team not Yepes or Perea who will demand to play.

Mondragon is beast son. However if we play with a defense who playing high up near the half line I much rather have Ospina who's faster at kicking the ball out than Mondragon. But if we're playing deep which is the usual case, the I rather have Mondragon Who's experience at keeping is phenomenal.

According to media reports, Pekerman think that cuadrado is the best goal keeper in LIGA POSTOBON......maybe a surprise

Cuadrado was good, Vargas was good, Mondragon was amazing...If we are looking forward to September, I would call Ospina, Farid and Vargas.

That is what I have been saying forever. Tho I am comfortable with either Cuadrado or Vargas coming along with Mondragon and Ospina. I really hope we get another GK playing abroad and doing well. Sadly Nekos form has been shit since Copa America

Miguel Calero: "El momento de Farid Mondragón en la Selección, ya pasó"
    http://www.antena2.com.co/audios/los-duenos-del-balon/miguel-calero-el-momento-de-farid-mondrago
Jealousy anyone? I don't know why Calero said that. Beside Ospina, Mondragon is the best Colombian keeper by far today, so who does Calero think that Pekerman should invite? If MOndragon is 41 and still plays like he is 30, then I cannot see the problem here. He is actually the only keeper that I would feel very much safe even if he will stand in goal.

Cuadrado or Vargas. Mondragon should be 3rd choice keeper. Problem in Colombia is we don't let the next generation ever play. Look at Zapata he should have been a NT starter around 2007 but our coaches don't have the balls to give the youth a shot. If we still had Bolillo James probably wouldn't have a cap yet.

Crzd, at first I thought like you. Mondragon era is over, let's bring this & this. But dude, the guy don't stop to amaze me everytime! he is 41 and plays better then Vargas, Ramos & Zapata together! This is our 2nd choice for sure, even thought both of them deserve to be the starters.

This is his problem. He got his chance to play during almost a whole qualifiers and failed with the rest of the players. He played in two Copa America and in one of them we didn't pass through the group stage. Unlike Zapata, he actually had his chances in the NT.

I don't get why people say Zapata hadn't had a proper chance. He's played nearly 15 internationals and is consistently being called up every game. Its not he flown to Colombia for free and watch everyone play. He actually participates in the practices people.

Tio, it's not a real chance and you know that. He usually played in friendlies, he played one meaningless Copa America match vs. USA in 2007 where he was sent off for wasting time and Rodallega subbed him and as I recall he never played a qualifiers match. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not criticize the coaches here because in all of these times they had a better keepers then Rufay like Calero, Julio & Ospina. Of course that he was at practice but for a keeper it's difficult when you know that it's 99% for sure that you're not gonna play unless...
    1. the first keeper will injury
    2. the first keeper will be suspended.

Look what we had in the past 20 years. Eduardo Niño was the replacement of Higuita but young talented Cordoba took his spot when Higuita was in jail and Mondragon was 2nd keeper. for 98 qualifiers, Mondragon played the majority of the games while Cordoba played in the last part but Mondragon still was the keeper for WC 98. Calero was the 3rd keeper and he got his chance in the Copa 1999 before we returned to Oscar once again for the Copa 2001 and the 2002 WCQ (Calero played 2 or 3 games during the qualifiers). in the Copa 2004 it was the turn of Juan Carlos Henao but during the 2006 WCQ it started with Cordoba until game 4 and then it was all Miguel Calero, also for the 2007 Copa America, when Julio was his backup. Then Julio was the 1st keeper for the 2010 WCQ when Zapata was his back up but in the same year started in Nacional young talented keeper named David Ospina, who got to play in the last part of the qualifiers and still Zapata was no. 2. So no, it's not a real chance and again, all of the mentioned keepers were better then him so I'm not complaining.

I think it is a good thing Sata Fe's Vargas is slowly being integrated into the fold.

Mondragon is still in very good form... And his experience is definitely a plus. If Ospina is not a starter in his team, if he's not getting playing time, then he shouldn't be our #1. I like Vargas. And Ramos is doing amazingly well right now. Those two plus Mondragon should be our gks for the moment. I'd definitely like to see Ramos be given a chance, and I'm not saying it as a Millos fan.

I wouldn't cancel Ospina so fast, even if he is not playing right now in France (the season just started). I wouldn't mind to see Mondragon because he is in an excellent shape and brings a lot of experience, but David also showed us just 3 months ago, how wonderful keeper he is and I wouldn't pass on him so fast. As the 3rd keeper, Vargas is talnted but not in his best right now, and in the league beside Mondragon, the keepers that show great form are Ramos Bonilla & Buenaños of Huila.

Is Vargas or is Mondragon our #2? I think Vargas is and Mondragon is just there to motivated the other 2 goalies.

If this is what is going on who should be our real #3?

Nelson Ramos? when he comes back from Injury? I don't really see any other good Colombian goalie. Neko, Zapata and Castillo all suck and are old
