I'm glad to see some criticism of MLS for not standing down on international days, however mild it may be.

Right - so in other words he's actually saying, "Sure we play crap soccer over here in MLS, but we are not the only ones, so there!" Nice sell Lalas. Nice sell.
Probably his "we" meant the Galaxy in particular, not MLS in general. And even if that's not how HE meant it, that's how I'll take it.
I think that's close. He probably meant that there are so many leagues in the world that are below or close to being on par with us.
