Garber in Denver, responding to concerns about two new Denver teams in indoor football and lacrosse: "We view ourselves competitive more with the other major sports teams in this market as opposed to the two new teams." And I think that's right. MLS may still have a lot in common with minor leagues, but in secondary markets like Denver or Cbus, it's certainly a competitor with the big leagues.
Garber: "I think we had an absolutely spectacular off-season. We have not only retained all but one star player in our league, but we brought back three World Cup players in Earnie Stewart, Joe-Max Moore and Frankie Hejduk." Who's the "star player", I wonder. Wade Barrett? More like future star. Joe Cannon? More like sort-of star. So is he talking about Ariel Graziani or maybe refering to Carlos Valderrama's retirement?
oops... someone tell the Denver Rocky Mountain News that Bayern Munchen and Bayer Leverkusen are not the same, and that it is the latter that is letting Donovan stay... rand
Does anyone else finds Mastroeni's dad's continuing support of Argentina rather than the US kind of outrageous? Hey, Mr. Mastroeni, that your SON out there!
Jomo Cosmos are actually named after the NY Cosmos of the NASL. I don't remember if Jomo is his first or last name, but the guy that started Jomo Cosmos played for the NY Cosmos, then went back to S. Africa and started his own team.

Jomo Sono was the coach of Bafana Bafana in the last WC as well as having his club team. Oh- and I've taken the initiative the send him a profanity-laced e-mail. Just in case.
''We have a lot more talent in the U.S. than people want to believe,'' he said. ``I don't see myself ever going back to Argentina to play, especially with MLS here. ``What could be better than living and playing in America?'' if only other people thought the same way as good old pablo.
I liked this from the colorado article "Donovan, who played brilliantly in the World Cup and in the MLS All-Star Game," somehow, it doesn't seem like those two events deserve to be mentioned in the same breath. I dunno, maybe its just mee
Speaking of Cosmos... There's a thread started by robviii over in the general MLS forum about Pele Pro negotiating with AEG to bring the Cosmos into MLS. He has a link from Ole, an Argentine sports paper, and I added a link and brief highlights from Jornal da Tarde, a respectable Sao Paulo daily. It's a legit story. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32419
