Jim, is the "Parting Ways" for Jordan or are you making another PJ reference, or both?

if the revolution do in fact sell their home game to their opponent, then they should have asked ussf to appoint another team

i'm sure several other teams would love to have this game, and i do realize the problems that they might be having... but why even bother flying down there? they already are giving up

************, be a complete prick and give the champion's cup slot to the rhinos... i'm sure their fans would love this opportunity, and i bet they would come out and shovel the damn field for the rhinos

maybe the revs should obtain a new slogan:

"making Wirtz look like a man of the people since 1996"

I've been a Revs fan since 1997, and I'm in complete agreement (as much as it pains me to agree with a Chicago fan).

As a Revs fan, I've seen some things, and I've seen some things, but I ain't never seen nothing like this.

This would not only essentially concede the series to LD Alajuelense, it would make MLS look like a joke in the international arena.

"weather considerations",...for cripesakes they're playing soccer in Germany and Denmark right now!

Thank god we got that great new stadium (which was supposed to be worth the price of admission on its own) so they can play on its field year round.

This is just the Kraft's way of saying thank you to those 61000 fans that went to the MLS Cup last year...

I can't believe you guys missed the fact that DCU has left MLS.

Read the top article, please. Most important for the future of MLS.

i can tell ya right now that there wouldn't be that many people willing to go and sit through a game at the Borro in this weather, 3,000 tops. However, on March 26th, two weeks before their opener and three weeks from their home opener that seems a little ridculous. Unless they think that it'd just be too much travel, or would be easier just to stay there? Then again maybe they just have some sort of Latin and South American fetish.

Well, they should win a few more matches this season, given that schedule.

Heck - Dallas was the next MLS team to have gotten that spot. We would have happily taken their place. Yes we play in a crappy HS stadium (actually its nice for HS - but not for a pro soccer team) with turf - but we would have played a home game.

But this is all part of the Revs cheap ass history. They avoid the US Open Cup, and now this. The only and I mean ONLY thing the Krafts care about is the extra nickels coming Revs MLS regular season.

They don't give a rats ass about the rest - least of all the fans. That's obvious now.

i can't help but wonder what kind of effect this decision will have on the team's morale. if a) they get their butts kicked twice in 3 days on foreign soil and b) they come to resent their management for selling them down the river in their first international competition, it might seriously effect their short term, if not long term, prospects for the year.

pathetic is the only word that really comes to mind for what the Revs are doing.

There's an article on Freddy Adu at www.northjersey.com with an interesting MLS angle.

Right now, Freddy's on track to graduate in May 2004 when he turns 15. And according to his coach, John Ellinger:

"If he goes in MLS he'd go in the draft next year but he would still stay until May to graduate. But knowing Freddy he'll try to push that envelope a little bit. Trying to keep Freddy here after he's been drafted by a team will probably be the hardest task I've had since I've been here because there nothing for him as far as a qualifier or tournament."

Before everyone continues to judge the Revolution, how many of you have visited the stadium lately?

The place is a mess. We've had a horrible winter and it is expected to continue.

there are a few options that don't include playing this game at the razor or at the opposing team's stadium

-fiu fundraiser somewhere in south florida
-play it in tulsa, okc or another such place
-sell it cheap to the burn (or another team)

Don't you think these options would generate almost as many complaints from Revs fans?

    No.

In fact, some of these were actually suggested by Revs fans.

    Which is easier to swallow:

    A) "We sold the match as a benefit to Florida International University since we are having a hard time finding a suitable New England venue given the weather, and we hope this will alleviate the problems that sports porgram is facing"

    B) "We sold our home match to the Costa Rican opposition and will play both legs away. Why? Um...we can't find a place to play? Hell, I dunno."

definitely, but they also don't concede the home field advantage to the other team... you might get some rev support, but it will at the worst be a neutral site... instead of having to pull two results at the other team's home field

    Perhaps the thinking is this:

Let's play both matches away in a hostile enviornment. This will be a tremendous experience for our players and will really assist us in preparation for the upcoming MLS season, US Open Cup and if we can advance, give us tremendous confidence to move on in the CCC.

hey, if they advance... i'll eat crow on this

but i just see two away matches in hostile environments being really hard to get out of, regardless of who the better team is
