it's simply not possible to sign every youth to play here in the states

we need more kids in professional environments

kudos to him for taking the opportunity... last i looked, jovan and john were still doing ok... bringing in a paycheck playing soccer

jovan's had some great games with the national team, never quite meshing though

thorrington hasn't made it yet with the national team... and maybe he never will, but that's how it goes... you only have so many roster slots, and it's nice to have players that have talent and still aren't good enough

From one of the Metros articles:

I'm sure this has been explained before, but how does the idea of "incentives" fit in with the idea of the salary cap. Are they not included? I would presume not. But why wouldn't just about all players of merit have them in their contract? Or do they?

Can anyone shed light? How confused am I?

there is no way they could have incentives affect the current cap, next year's is quite possible... it's also possible that incentives can be eaten up by unused discovery money

    who knows

it's not like they are going to release the information on this process anytime soon

Nicol, Revolution take a Left Turn - Boston Globe

that should be three doubleheaders for the revs...

this one, another with us-portugal (most likely, yet that match is not yet confirmed), and a third that the revs will headline with wusa's boston breakers

looks like season ticket holders will be getting some nice shows out in foxboro

That's not why I said 'blah'.

From everything I've seen of Spector, he's simply not that impressive to begin with.

Guys like Julian Deiterle, another Chicago guy, also a defender, have seemed much, much more impressive.

    But, that's me.

Having a UK passport makes the kid significantly more attractive to ManU, much as it helped Arsenal see something in Danny Karbassiyoon.

I wonder why news articles never mention Jemal Johnson, another American citizen (moved to England from NJ when he was about 6) who played youth ball for ManU and is now with Blackburn Rovers' U-19 team.

so maybe somebody that scouts talent better... instead of just buying everything will take notice... maybe getting another person out of the way will make it that much easier for this kid to sign on here

maybe man-ure wasn't even going to offer a slot to any american... save this kid... so if he didn't take it, he was just muddling the whole system even more

Oh, I know that. And that's pretty much why Spector was tabbed. The article never mentions that, as far as I recall, though.

It's just unfortunate more deserving candidates, IMO, get passed over.

not being up to speed on the youth stuff and therefore guessing

but does he play youth ball for the u.s.?

if not, that would greatly help in the media not even knowing who he is

spector is a 16 year old kid form the third largest market, playing for a youth national team making the move to man-ure

jemal johnson is for all intents and purposes an english kid. he speaks with a thick english accent, but carries a us passport. its kind of like the earnie stewart situation... earnie is an american but grew up in holland therefore he was off of the mainstream radar for most of his career.
