Looks like it is going to be a LONG season for the Fire. I know they had cap problems that forced them into these moves. But, do you think that the impending move back to Soldier Field has anything to do with this rebuilding?

It seems that every time a MLB team is a couple of years away from a new stadium, they overhaul the team in hopes of being as strong as possible when they move into the new venue. Could this be a strategy the Fire are taking?

Also, I will be in Orlando in a few weeks for a wedding. I was wondering if there is a pre-season schedule somewhere that shows who is playing, when the match is and where it is located? Wishful thinking, I am sure.

i would imagine it would have to do with soldier field being rebuilt as the spaceship on the lake

because there was no soldier field, the fire played in naperville and the bears played in champaign

Serna's release merited nothing more than one line at the end of the Boston article. Crazy how successful that guy was here but never really fit...

I know all the fans are chomping at the bit with the Fire dropping two preseason games, but I really don't think it is all that big a deal. It is just the preseason, half the guys getting the majority of playing time are rookies and/or young guys. I am making no excuses, and this last loss has rattled me a bit, but (and I am speaking on only my behalf) I am not really worried. The team has a core of players remaining that are stronger than some of the teams in the league presently, plus some great young guys and rookies that will hopefully prove themselves. I'll start worrying if we lose 8 of the first 10.

I hear the Fire site will have an article going up this week from one of their columnists that talks about why the Fire's "predicament" isn't as dire as some are making it out to be. ;)

    boa sorte!

From the Globe's Revs article: "The Revolution preseason schedule could be the most demanding in the team's eight-year history, with games against Guarani, Palmeiras, and Sao Paulo FC, among Brazil's most powerful clubs. ... Sao Paulo state is considered 'the center of the soccer universe,' according to a Revolution official, since it has the most successful clubs..."

Paulistas joke that the Brazilian nat'l championship is basically the Paulista state championship weakened by the addition of teams from other states. ;)

This sounds as delusional as we DC fans were in 2000.
