2/1 McBride: Everton vs. Leeds [R] Pre-game speculation that the side will be unchanged from last week, although it's possible that Campbell may replace "Macca": http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/02-03/reports/Leeds(h).asp http://www.evertonfc.tv/news/article.asp?id=5791 http://www.evertonfc.tv/news/article.asp?id=5787 ---------------------- audio link: http://www.evertonfc.tv/match/live/index.asp
Should be a fun match -if i ever get to it.... the weather is terrible right now. There is lots of snow on the ground and its still snowing. I'll try to get some pictures from the match as well. (when i'm not yelling my dissatisfaction at the board.)
OK, here's something worth debating... Should this weather Captain Splarg reports happens to continue, is it condusive to McBride's game or not? I'll fire the first salvo here, and say yes-- in that type of weather, who wants to play short passes along the ground? Everton may not play completely direct, but if they play through the air, I like the idea of McBride having an aerial advantage against Leeds' central defense. Can't wait to see these pictures, especially with the way the weather's been in my part of the world of late. Would be quite a contrast to what I've become accustomed to here... Should make for some great photography in general... Cheers, William
At this moment I should have been in Splarg's vehicle with my wife driving up to Liverpool to the match, but she and I both came down with some nasty colds/flu and we had to swallow the tickets and the airfares. Damn it. Hopefully I will be able to catch the next one...I am thinking however of going to the local "sports pub" here in town if they have the match showing, which I'll know at about 3pm here...if it's not showing there, I'll be happy to do PBP as I did last match
McBride is in the starting 11. EVERTON line-up: R Wright, A Pistone, D Weir, A Stubbs, D Unsworth, S Watson, T Li, S Gemmill, G Naysmith, T Radzinski, B McBride
Yeah, I can't connect either. I suspect that they haven't turned on the broadcast yet, even though they claim on the site that they were starting it as of about fifteen minutes ago. In other news, the space shuttle Columbia just burned up upon re-entry into the earth's atmosphere. I don't know how I'm going to enjoy this game now.
They usually wait until closer to game time. Tree - I was planning on doing pbp this week since for once I'm not going for dimsum today.
Yeah, I can't get it to work. I couldn't get it to work last time either. Perhaps that Real Media player is an updated version to mine. It might require windows 98 to download it and I only have 95 so I'm probably screwed until I get a new computer. If that's not the case however, I'd also like some suggestions.
Feel free dk..you're better than me anyways...besides I have my eye glue to the TV watching the breaking news...in case you guys don't know...the space shuttle blew up/broke apart over Dallas about 30 minutes ago
McBride will start. From BBC: "Leeds United and Everton both name unchanged teams for their match at Goodison Park."
McBride with Everton until he returns to the "MSL". Everton Wright , Pistone , Weir , Stubbs , Unsworth , Watson , Li , Gemmill , Naysmith , Radzinski , McBride Subs: Campbell , Pembridge , Gravesen , Yobo , Gerrard Leeds United Robinson , Kelly , Mills , Matteo , Lucic , Smith , E Bakke , Okon , Wilcox , Viduka , Kewell Subs: Martyn , Harte , Radebe , Johnson , Milner
Kick off. Alan Smith in to Viduka - back to midfield - switched left to Wixcox - squared -- forward ball is easily cleared. Struggle to gain control of the ball by both sides - couple of players clashed heads and receiving treatment. Audio is choppy for me - anyone else?
Drop ball. Paul Robinson with a goal kick. (Expected to be in England squad and expected to start.) Joe McBride getting a mentioned. Pistone ball flicked on by Radz - goes to Watson -- cleared by Wilcox. Nice ball into the penalty area cleared by Weir - Viduka can't control in the box. Ball sent clear towards to McBride. Ball falls to Watson -- a clear chance but he gets underneath it. McBride got in to the box -- can't tell how he was involved in the play but getting mentions. McBride wins the ball for Everton - Li Tie to Radz -- goes out for corner.
