so Tottenham were unable to find a striker before the window closed. They better hope Keane gets healthy quick and stays that way or else there Europe hopes will fringe on next year though. As for next year, Morientes rumors aside, I seem to recall hearing that they are going to try and get Eto'o on a free once his contract with Mallorca runs out after this season. That would be a hell of a young strike force if they can get Keane and Eto'o they will be set for a decade.
Saw the replay of Zola's goal. Reminded me of Ziege's goal v. the U.S. in that friendly last March. Not in the sense it came from the same spot on the field or anything, but in the sense it seemed like Kasey got a slow jump and CONCEIVABLY could have parried it away. Still, they said Kasey had a fine day.
You're kidding, right? If he's anywhere near where he would need to be to save that shot (upper corner, far post), he leaves the near post totally exposed. That was an incredible goal, and any keeper who saves it is out of position.
Well, I wasn't kidding, but clearly I'm being outvoted and maybe I saw it wrong. In my own defense, I only saw it quickly and out of the corner of my eye. I thought I saw Kasey shuffle a few steps and get a slow jump...which reminded me of the Ziege free kick last March. But I'm perfectly willing to admit I may have seen it wrong or am misjudging the likelihood of him being able to stop the shot. Beautiful strike by Zola, no question.
