It doesn't make sense to count events that could or should be done in the big
stadium - because that's just taking money from one pocket and putting it in the other.

And, when talking about monster trucks, concerts, etc. that it would be on ... our ... grass field.

One thought is to attempt to designate Capos no later than a few hrs. before every match to avoid problems. I'd hope that if someone knows they are to be Capo for the match they will be responsible.

Peharps they get to wear the sacred Capo Uniform for the tailgate and game. Each supporter group might have a different uniform to represent. Maybe an outfit with a cape! Capt. Capo!

It will only take one incident to have the FO to remove the Capo stand.

That's cute you think it would be grass. :D

I think the most interesting part of the meeting to me was when His Grillness Weber King said he'd rather have more leeway to bring in tifo than accept FO money, Bilello asked what he meant seeing as flags and banners "have always" been allowed, and then the assembly semi-erupted with "uhm, not really." He didn't seem to know TeamOps wasn't aware of that, which lead to 7 seconds of stammering on his part.

They certainly are talking the talk when it comes to going in the right direction and I am cautiously optimistic. I was really encouraged by the talk of making the Morgue less Morgue-y and coordinating between those fans and the Fort. I loved Bilello's comment about, "its going to be kind of plastic at first but then it'll become tradition."

Hopefully now that they know TFC is bringing 500 (apparently they didn't notice a lot of credit card charges billed to Ontario) they plan something big for the first home game.

I agree, but when one group is harder to contact than Elvis, makes it difficult. If (and judging from their numbers towards the end of last year I'm saying "if" not "when") they come to the TFC game, perhaps a contingent of SG reps should go over at halftime and talk to them?

I assume this means the night before, we'll have a supporters match in Gillette Canyon under the lights. So it is written ... so it shall be done. :D

Technically, they are doing precisely that right now. If they stopped, then prices would drop and people would be able to afford the properties they want, instead the prices are propped up.

Of course, if prices dropped $12k even more people would be severely underwater and would probably realize that defaulting on that loan and giving the collateral back to the bank is the smart decision.

I really shouldn't be talking about this or any other thing that I have a strong opinion about.

    Make that opinion.

If the Foxborough Fire Department, Foxborough Police, the Norfolk County director, and Uriel Sturm (commissioner of the Kraft Family Israeli Football League) all sign off on it then perhaps. :D

I'd like to know what you mean by this. Are you trying to say that the Front Office didn't know TFC fans were coming en masse? Because if that's the case, you're dead wrong.

I forget who said it (speak up if it was you), but when whoever it was said "TFC is bringing 500 people" the look on BB's face seemed like surprise to me.

Well I'm not a facial expression expert, but to say that the team had no idea that a large amount of TFC fans were coming, until "we" told them, is just crazy.

Again, I'm no facial expression expert, but I'd hazard a guess that the look on Brian's face was more because of the amount of time people were essentially arguing with him about sound dynamics, of all things. How exactly is that something the Revs can deal with?

Regarding stadium funding, this might be too far off topic and I am not made of money, but I have often wondered why season ticket holders have not tried to contribute to the building of a SSS. Maybe they have, but I have been a season ticket holder for 10 yerars and have never heard of such an idea.

What is the life expectancy of a typical stadium? 25 years? I would be willing to pay for a "lifetime" season ticket in order to get the stadium built. That is, I pay say $5,000 per ticket and I NEVER pay for another Revs game at the stadium for the lifetime of the stadium. If 5,000 ticket holders did this then you would get $25,000,000. The way I see it, I am going to pay for the tickets anyway at a minimum of today's prices. For category 1 tickets today I pay $1,000 for two tickets. That means I could get 50 years of value for 5 years of cost up front. If 5,000 people did it this would set the funding balance to 75/25 (private/STH). I understand that this will eat into ticket sales profits over the lifetime of the stadium, but it would get a stadium built. OTOH, ticket prices, concessions, etc. will all cost more over time and attendance might also rise and stay up depending on location of the stadium. It is probably a bad deal for Kraft, but it would get a stadium funded with a lot less false promises and political maneuvering.

I am pretty sure that a similar offer has been made before for MLS Cup tickets. Pay $1,000 per ticket now and get lifetime tickets to the game.

you seriously think the majority (I'm not sure we even have 5000 sth's) of our STH would willingly be able to come up with 5000 dollars like that? I can barely come up with the 250 bucks for the fort tickets. It's a nice idea but totally unrealistic.

I confess to be somewhat cynical. He looked surprised to me. Reasonable minds can differ. My opinion might also be colored by that whole thing coming hot on the heels of his being unaware that TeamOps wasn't following his directives regarding flags.

In a discussion about making the home atmosphere better and how to make the stadium louder, if there's evidence (and according to Joe L. there is) putting away fans in a certain area makes them louder- I would say it fits.

Because the team owner is a billionaire with business connections and the fans, well, aren't?

    Most definitely.

If the Krafts can't generate significant revenue - including future ticket sales revenue - with said stadium, they really don't require the facility.

All of the talk on the part of the Krafts and Brian Bilello about a soccer-specific stadium improving the gameday experience for Revolution supporters notwithstanding, the primary impetus behind the Krafts wanting to build such a facility is their desire to utilize the facility as a catalyst for making money... lots of it. Frankly, that's to be expected, as well as entirely understandable. Any funding mechanism that would significantly cut into such revenue generation is a non-starter.

Bottom line? Revolution season-ticket-holders getting "50 years of value for 5 years of cost up front" qualifies as significantly cutting into the Krafts' ability to generate revenue with a soccer-specific stadium.

This is brilliant. But let's take it to the next level. Assuming we get a 28,000 seat soccer palace of the gods in the downtown surrounds, we sell an EZ-SSS subscription to 15,000 folks.

    What's the EZ-SSS subscription?

Each month subscribers pay $87.60 to the EZ-SSS program, deducted automatically out of your checking account. As government would describe such an amount, this equates to the cost of a cup of coffee per day.

But over ten years, subscribers would have paid $10,000 each plus 1% interest for payment handling.

The result: 15,000 subscribers end up contributing $150 million, are awarded 50% off seating licenses, Kraft kicks in another $50 million, and we have a $200 million dollar site like no other.

    :D

Basically, this is what the whole "personal seat license" thing is... except, the PSL only gives you the right to purchase your seat... this has mostly been used as a vehicle to build stadia... unfortunately, it only works in an environment where tickets are scarce (not the Revs)

I don't think that the average life span of a modern stadium is 50 years. How long were the Cowboys at Texas stadium? Under 40 for sure. I'd say that most stadiums these days are designed for 30 to 40 years, despite the 99 year leases.

On the subject of flags and banners, was there any mention about being more lenient on bringing them in? Or will it still be the same thing where the flags and banners have to remain it the stadium?

I sit in the morgue (section 106) and I'm in the process of making some banners. My goal is to place them in that area but I don't know if it's going to be hassle to bring them in or if I should just give them to the person who handles the banners around the fort.

It will still be the same process. All you need to do is contact a supporters group so they can get it approved (fire proofing, etc).

One thing to note. It's a tedious process to bring flags in, and takes a lot of spontaneity out of certain games. A suggestion that was made which I think is an awesome suggestion is that for flags that don't need to be fire proofed can be brought in on game day and the flag poles will be housed at Gillette. If we get sturdy PVC pipe with some type of clip to clip into the grommet it will allow for more creativity and diversity for our flags. Also it will allow some people to bring their own flag and not have to leave it at the stadium. The issue the FO and security have are the flag poles, not the flags. This also applies to the 2 stick flags.

I doubt the tix have been purchased yet. Trust me if the FO had a group that size already on the books they'd be very very pleased and have no problem expressing their excitement. Besides a large youth club or a corporate group (which for the Revs is very highly unlikely) 500 tix by 1 group could be the largest for the entire season.

call me skeptical, but I higly doubt that TFC is bringing 500. They were suppose to being over 100 last year and they only brought about 50 at best. I best TFC barely break 100

i've talkedto my tfc friends quite a bit about this game... i think you will be suprised, they are replacing thier annual columbus start of the year seaso n trip with this. They bring close to 2k to C-bus, ya we're further away but I think they will be there in big numbers. They also we're pretty close to 100 last year, I was with them at thier tailgate for a while last year and there was a full bus and a couple dozen carloads.

They're bringing at least 500 according to what I've heard from members of both the RPB and the ... damn, can't remember the other group's name.
