Arsenal FA cup Classics on FSC Enjoy Arsenal FA cups classics all day on FSC. Matches against Liverpool, ManU and Chelsea
there is just such a visual purity to those old matches. no sponsorship on shirts. no advertising boards. just football. i can understand why it's not any big deal to those who've never known the game without the advertising. but if you grew up in the 70s (or earlier), it really is intrusive.
I completely agree with that statement. It was just football without the diving, constant injuries, nick fouls, and time-wasting. It was passionate fast football and you could tell the players left everything on the field. I'm not old enough (22yo) to remember when you could pass back to the keeper and have him scoop it up so to me that was the only thing that detracted from the match. The back pass was a "get out of jail free" card. The crowds were awesome in support of their club as well. Arsenal singing YNWA was great.
i got the shivers after charlie george's winner and the arsenal fans were singing YNWA to the defeated scousers.
Well, the family festivities are over and I'm going to sit down and watch Arsenal-Liverpool '01 right now. God bless FSC for this Christmas gift!
You gotta be shittin' me!!! Of course, FSC *would* pull something like this when there's no possible way for me to watch it.
Re: Arsenal FA cup Classics on FSC I DVR'd them all, thanks. Now that the family's gone, I can spend all day watching football, including today's match against Pompey (also on FSC).
Re: Arsenal FA cup Classics on FSC You are welcome. Lets come out winning all 3 games in festival season.
Ugh...disappointed they chose to show that one. You would think it was supposed to be a celebratory feast of Arsenal's triumphs over the years yet they show a final we've lost. Why not show the 98 cup final v Newcastle?? It was, after all the culmination of a double winning season.
I DVR'd them all, watched 1971 after lunch yesterday - the rest await me. It was a great match to watch, very refreshing to see shirts without a sponsor's name on them. I got a good laugh of a close-up of the physio (or maybe it was some other coach?) smoking on the bench - things were different then!
I set up my recorder on 12/25 for the 4 victories. I was really looking forward to the '71 final, which I don't believe I have a copy of anywhere. Then on 12/26, after everyone else is in bed, I sit down to watch it, and... nothing there! Just a bunch of static for hours. Ugh, I must've screwed something up but no idea what, since I've done this hundreds if not a thousand times successfully. Anyone w/ a copy of '71 interested in burning me a DVD?
