Beat me to it. Atlanta was still standing in 1860 after all...

Ive used "keen" lots of times in coversation, never terribly seriously, never with any idea that it might be a word only used in the UK.

Oh yeah...Mathis to 1860 Munich. Sorry. I say go for it, huge club, sure to be back in the Bundesliga soon, and Munich?? GREAT town. Can you imagine Clint at the Hoffbrauhouse slamming back truly good beer and saurerkraut and those odd watery sausages, while singing drinking songs with link-armed chubby lederhosen clad Germans. Makes me misty, it does.

Yes, I can imagine that. Surprised if he wasn't making roadtrips already.

I bet the 1860 offer to Cletus sound enticing. Munich, after all, is the world capital of Oktoberfest!

I don't figure that. In 1860 Lincoln was elected President. How was that good for Georgia? ;)

Unless, of course, your team is (gawd forbid) Sunderland.

Keen is, of course, not exclusively a UK term and is not a football term, but I had a rather spirited discussion with a buddy who objected to my using the term "pitch" but thought nothing of asking for a mulligan the last time we played golf at the local links. The fact is many of us - even if we aren't from the UK or a former Commonwealth nation - were coached by Europoseurs who used actual Euro language so we still use terms like "pitch" and "touch" and "football." All of which is, of course, totally off topic.

To bring it back to topic, Bavaria is the Georgia of Germany, so Clint should be right at home.

Cheers is definitely a nice touch in this post.
On the Mathis side maybe he should just go on 2 month loans for every club he joins so he can get a couple goals look good then move on before he wears out his welcome.

Hey who cares if he ends up looking like Denilson, just so long as he plays like Denilson. :D

1860 would be a good match up for Clint -- the beer is strong and manly in Munich, in SLC, well, its watery, domestic.

Anyone want to start a 'Yanks using British soccer English' thread? I'd have some thoughts on the matter. Personally there is some brit slang I just like: the various uses of 'piss off' and 'cheers' come to mind...

    happy days,
    Malk

If you don't like my chioce of words then don't open the thread. I think it's ********ing ridiculous to ridicule someone because of some little phrase. That shows a lot of class. I never intended to sound like some flashy big Brit. If you knew anything about me you'd realize how far from the truth you are. In fact i use "keen" quite often and never, until now have had someone make a comment about it. You've chosen to pick and disect a little phrase that has no effect on the topic on the thread. "Keen" is simply a ********ing word and that's it. Grow up and get over it. I've never once thought negatively about BS or the people who post on it but now I understand some of the displeasures and frustrations that some feel about certain posters.

I know someone who uses "peachy keen" all the time. She's annoying, but I didn't realize she's also an Anglo-phile for it.

Anybody who uses the word "keen" is a wanker.

The thread should have been called "1860 really really really really really really really want to sign mathis"

    ;)

    Hi
The HAZ announced today that Mathis did not take part in Training yesterday. They said it was due to a Muskelverhärtung, translated it would be a muscle-hardening. Don't know whether that is the correct english word, but it isn't that bad as far as I know...
    hope he gets better soon

He probably told Leinen "I've got your hard muscle right here."
