No. He wasn't scout by our YNT. His style is too C. Ronaldo to fix in our youth team play. But believe me, Dempsey, Feilhaber, and Nguyen were not being scouted before show up in U-20 WYC.
his website looks really fishy and somewhat fake... has anyone actually confirmend with Villareal that he has infact signend..
Every Google search and Yahoo search I've done only has links with Brandon HIMSELF speaking or commenting on his experiences at Villa Real. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for some independent verification that he is indeed with the club. The club's website has no mention of him at all on any of their teams. A quick confirmation that he is indeed playing with them would be great.
How about the picture of him playing in a game in their uniform on his website? I guess he set that up also and his old club Scott Gallagher is also playing along? What would be the purpose? He left his club and highschool team but perhaps he was just abducted by aliens and isn't really in Spain afterall. Clubs don't notify the press for all of the new players they take unless they are 1st teamers. Lets be real here.
Uh... I know it's on the Mississippi, but barring suddenly drifting down the river I don't think St. Louis is in Louisiana.
he's 5'8" 140, last time I saw a USA youth national team it was full of 6' plus cyborgs... meaning he might be too small for man u and the us team as a forward who tend to like big tall target men, hence latin countries go with players of all kinds of heights in all positions...
Different coaches look for different things and sometimes players just slip through because either they have a bad day when the right people are around or they are weak at whatever the speific coach is looking for. We've got a ton of soccer players in the US and not enough scouts to see them all. Its inevitable that we have guys playing outside our ODP system that are either currently as good as or will eventually surpass the guys in ODP. Selecting youth players is a gamble and this kid just looked a better gamble to the coaches who grabbed him than the coaches slelecting US teams.
Reyna, Beasley, O'Brien, Donovan, Cherundolo, Lewis, Convey ... There are few countries as friendly to the smaller player as the U.S., actually. For example, my state has sent 4 players who were 5' or shorter to the USMNT U14 national camp over the past 3 years, and only one player who was 5' 7" or taller. This represents an aggressive decision to skew small (and of course agile), since there were many times more players vying for spots who were 5' 7"+ than there were under 5' in height.
Wolff, Convey, Adu, Mapp, Arvizu, Davis... etc... etc... Now, name the players over 6-2 in our pool and then tell me which list is longer.
