Defend the home field! We can't let any team walk out of Stamford Bridge a winner, other than Chelsea.

He has had 1 goal and 2 assists so far this season. I believe that is at least something to offer? His pass completion rate in most of the matches is more than 70%. He generally wins over 60-70% tackles (chalkboards). He at least attempts to run at people. He has made some glaring mistakes which have led to goals but so have Mikel, Ashley and Terry this season. Ivan has made his own share of mistakes in the past. Tell me, if it was Bosingwa who had slipped in the match against Arse instead of Terry, people would have come out on the streets and burnt effigies of him.

As someone mentioned, his main issue is lack of concentration and the injuries. I believe if AVB could rectify Luiz, why not him? In the current system, fullbacks are allowed way too much freedom and Bos (and I will add Ash) do not have the mental prowess or physical attributes to make use of it. Ash is at least a better defender but I would say Bos is a tad better in attack. We play like we did against Valencia, I am sure Bos would perform 10x better as he is pretty quick. It is just that he is way too much in front and has no support that he has a hard time getting back and commits silly mistakes.

I am not saying he is the best defender or attacker on the earth. Hell, I wanted to tear my hair out in some of the games I have seen him. I would prefer to replace him at the end of this season. But I do not agree to statements like "I would prefer PF over Bos". He has his positives. To each his own I guess.

I don't see it, he's woeful defending and in attack, well not sure what makes him good there either? He has some pace and the willingness to run at people, so what? His end product is crap, he's Kalou playing rightback in that case. Ashley is a superior player at either end of the pitch.

Ash has 3 assists in 14 games while Bos has 2 assists and 1 goal in 11. Just a better rate I guess.

Not bad enough to throw him to the dogs.

One only has to watch them play to see the gulf in ability and performance, even in a down season for Cole(so far).

True. I have not said Bos is better than Cole. I am saying he has his positives and can be effective if used in the right way. And he is producing which people seem to ignore.

He's a rightback being asked to play right back, to this point he has done a poor job. Perhaps he can do an ok job against subpar competition, but not against good teams

And how can you be so sure of that? Wasn't he the one who kept Messi in check? And he has had many stand out performances. It is just a blanket statement in the end. The way people were talking about Drogba pre-Hiddink in that season.

You keep citing this game against Messi like it means anything at this point, it's in the past, his play this season speaks for itself.

Lol. It is the first time I mentioned it. I am just saying he has talent and people here should give him a chance. So I am assuming you are all for dumping Torres too if that is your line of thinking?

Solely using stats, Malouda would have been our 1st or 2nd best player in the prem last season, with 13 goals and 5 assists.....but anyone who watched the game can tell you how horrid of a season he really had..

To this day, I'm still trying to figure out where Bosingwa was going on Arsenal's 2nd goal against us:confused:

Man, he was dreadful that day. Not that it was all Bosingwa's fault, but we could not keep a clean sheet to save our lives with him in the side. The right flank has been much more sturdy since Ivan took over there.

Anyway, Bos is really not a bad #2 option, especially when we are so short at the back with the Luiz suspension and Alex situation. One thing you always need in defense against the top teams (like City) is pace, and Bosingwa certainly has that. I'm glad he's been dropped from the first-choice XI, but he can still do a job when he is in the team. Starting Paulo is just asking for him to be eaten alive by Aguero, Nasri, Silva, et al.

Bosingwa and Cole are very fast and that should be useful in defending against fat wingers [fast wingers :p ] - the problems arise when they go forward too much. They are defenders and they should defend and as long as they do that they are great. It is nice that they can go foward every now and then, but that is not there job. We should have wingers going forward doing that. Midfield players doing that. It all seemed much simpler under Jose and our defence was tight. Bosingwa was better before his big injury, but if he is reined a little bit and asked to concentrate on defending his speed should be an asset. I think we should be in good shape.

Shame Luiz is out - but I have faith in Ivan and Terry in the middle.

    Bring it on Citeh.

The thing is that Bos has lost a step after his last major injury. Then you add the fact that he tries real hard to be a winger, hence the name Boswinga...ok It's a terrible joke, but you get the gist of the subject. Bos is good, but when CFC needs real defending from the right, Ferreira might be the better option

We will agree to disagree then. Lets just say I will prefer him to PF any day.

I used the stats because maturin said he did not see Bos offering anything. I give you 2 assists and 1 goal.

Pretty much summed up what I wanted to say. Well, bring on city !!! Why the hell does this match have to be on frigging monday??

Ditto on the sign! I got a late meeting keeping me in the office tomorrow. No bueno
Regardless seeing that spurs are having a tough time against stoke this game would be huge for our confidence if we can pull out a win. Do what needs to be done whether its pretty or not. I want 3 points!!!!
