I've heard of Oplinger...a few of my high school teammates played w/ her at USF. Don't know anything about her other than that she was their go-to girl.

3 GKs...I'd guess to challenge Quinones for the reserve spot more than to challenge Beene or Greathouse...

Interesting that about 1/2 of the try-out players are defenders. I think we look pretty stacked on defense already! Only 1 F, 1 F/M, and 2 M?? Midfield and forward is where I think we still need more depth...

Ian, what are you doing? I haven't got a clue what you're looking for with this group.

So who foots the bill for the travel/accomodations of these tryout players?

Great point about all the D's coming in. Is there some injury/possible trade/chemistry issue that we don't know about?
Oh well. If anything, it just makes for more speculation and discussion here!

Beth, do you know if Patrick got invited to try-out with any other teams?

Does anyone know if the teams all have separate weekends/dates for these kinds of try-outs? If not, the players who were invited to multiple try-outs are in trouble.

Tryouts begin this weekend. I have the article at home otherwise I would post the details.

I do believe the Beat's tryouts are next weekend.

UGH! Please don't trade any more of our defenders!!!!...

...unless we can get someone like Tiffeny Milbrett. :D

(Yes, I know that's not going to happen...it's just wishful thinking)

    Isn't Kim Patrick a local?

I've only seen Patrick play a handful of times, so I can't really comment on what I think she might bring to the team, but it does seem that we might want to be looking at forwards. Or, is Sawyers counting on Clark and Hendershot-Brown both being healthy and contributing enough up front in relief of Katia and Clemens? Is he thinking of using Brandi as a forward again? Or Pretinha?

Inquiring minds want to know!

I stand somewhat corrected.. emailed the crays office to let them know there was a mistake.. confusing Martina and Reggie.. and was just informed that it's REGGIE trying out.. which is awesome news.. just wish they would have had it right the first time (wrong college and wrong grad year)

Pleasanton is 28.5 miles away from Spartan Stadium, according to Yahoo! Maps. There's at least one Earthquakes fan who makes the trip for each game.

Jen Miller is a very good player. Can play in the midfield also as can many of the defenders listed. I am guessing that they are actually more likely to be looking for someone that can play in the midfield, especially defensively.

Thanks for the info on Miller.
It seems like if Sawyers wants a defensive midfielder, he got one in Barr. I guess you should always give other players chances, too. Let's hope the C-Rays site gives some insight on how the try-out went.

He's also got Nanez and Wagner...but I guess we'll see how things play out.

Are Nanez and Wagner better as d-mids? I know that Nanez probably is, but it seems like Wagner had somewhat decent passing skills that bumped her up to being a better offensive mid player.
No word from any press on the try-out, right? Training camp opens in two weeks!

And Dorn. She's maybe undersized but I think her intangibles make up for a lot of it.
